In not so shocking news, WWE SummerSlam will reportedly take place at the Performance Center.
Mike Johnson at PWInsider first reported the news. WWE has yet to make an official announcement.
WWE has held all events, with the exception of certain cinematic matches, at the Performance Center during the COVID-19 pandemic, which started shutting arenas down in mid-March. SummerSlam was originally slated to be held at the TD Garden in Boston, MA, but the pandemic changed those plans.
WWE was set to hold four nights of action (SmackDown, NXT TakeOver, SummerSlam, and Raw) in Boston.
According to a recent WWE taping schedule posted by POST Wrestling, NXT TakeOver and SummerSlam will be taped on their original dates (August 22 for TakeOver and August 23 for SummerSlam), though it was not confirmed at that time that SummerSlam would be held at the Performance Center. It is unknown when arenas will open up and fans will be allowed back in buildings. WWE Executive Vice President John Brody recently stated that Vince McMahon is ready to run arenas again if they are opened safely.
