Reported Reason As To Why Rey Mysterio Did Not Ink A Deal With Impact Wrestling

"The Master Of The 619" was almost bound for glory in the Impact Zone at one point.

Around September of 2017, it was being reported by various outlets that Rey Mysterio was close to wrapping up a deal with Impact Wrestling. Mysterio, who is 43 years old, still has the ability and in-ring skill to be a main-player in whichever company he chooses to represent. As you all are aware, Mysterio appeared in the 2018 mens 'Royal Rumble' match. The former WWE Champion received a great welcoming back from the Philadelphia crowd and his return video has reached 12 million views on WWE's YouTube page.

WWE Raw To Remain On USA Network Through 2024

Mysterio's appearance at the Rumble was said to have to have been a one off, but apparently, WWE has been trying to put together a deal with Mysterio. But, the issue is that the former two-time World Heavyweight Champion does not want a full-time schedule.

As noted above, Rey Mysterio was at one point, seemingly headed to Impact Wrestling. Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that Impact and Mysterio had came around to a deal. But once Konnan, who has been Mysterio's business manager stepped in to finalize the deal, something had went wrong and the deal was never completed. It was also noted in the report that Impact attempted to set up Mysterio to appear during the Impact tapings in April, but Mysterio made it clear that he and WWE are in a waiting phase of sorts.

Although it would have been a great addition for Impact Wrestling to add someone with the star power of Rey Mysterio to their talent roster, it would not be outlandish to state that most fans want Rey to finish his career out in the WWE.
