AEW Dynamite (2/1/23) Results: No DQ Match For TNT Title, TBS Title Match, Danielson vs. Thatcher

Hangman Page vs. Jon Moxley

The fighting started before the match. First, both men began brawling in the audience, and then, as they approached the ring, Page threw a chair at Moxley. Then, Jon Moxley was Suplexed on said chair and eventually found reprieve in the ring down in the corner, where he would eventually start bleeding. Heading into the commercial break, Hangman would throw Jon Moxley head first into the ring post from the Fireman's Carry position. Both men would continue exchanging strikes. The action would eventually spill to the floor again, where Hangman would miss a moon salt and get hit with a Lariat. Paige would eventually fight back and drive Moxley through a table with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Back in the ring, Hangman hits a Lariat and a Dead Eye but only gets the count of two.

Page misses a running knee, and Jon Moxley takes control. There's yet another exchange of strikes, but Hangman is able to get a small package piledriver for yet another near fall. Page goes for the Buckshot. Moxley counters it and goes for the Death Rider. Page gets a Tombstone and follows it up with a Buckshot for two. Finally, Page goes for his own Bulldog Choke, but Jon Moxley counters it into a 3/4 Nelson pin for the victory.

Winner: Jon Moxley by pinfall.

- After the match, tensions remain high. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta come out to try and quell the situation.

- A video package spotlights Darby Allin vs. Samoa Joe for later in the night. Regardless of who wins, there is no rematch.

- Jamie Hayter and The Bunny agreed to a Eliminator Match next week. Suddenly, footage is shown of Saraya & Toni Storm attacking Britt Baker in the parking lot.

The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum

Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum scissored. The crowd booed. Bowens hit Scissor Me Timbers. Caster hits Mic Drop. Easy win for the Tag Team Champions.

Winners: The Acclaimed by pinfall.

- The Gunns come out. They challenge the champions. The Acclaimed poll the fans. The fans say no. So, the champions say no. Finally, Billy Gunn says he's sick of the fighting and walks away. His kids try to gaslight him, bringing up his past addictions—Billy Gunn storms to the ring and volunteers The Acclaimed to defend their titles next week.

- Jungle Boy Jack Perry says he will become a single champion this year in a backstage interview with Alex Marvez.

Brian Cage vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Early on, Brian Cage has control. Eventually, the momentum shifts and Takeshita gets a near fall with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Cage fires back with a German Suplex. Takeshita gets a near fall with a Liger Bomb. Cage drops Takeshita with an F5. Takeshita is able to hit some Brainbusters, including one from the top rope. In the end, Takeshtia wins with the running knee.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita by pinfall.

- The Jericho Appreciation Society is interviewed by Renee Young. Next week, Ricky Starks must run the gauntlet to get another shot at Chris Jericho.

- The Elite agreed to face Isiah Kassidy, Matt Hardy, and Ethan Page this Friday.

Bryan Danielson vs. Timothy Thatcher

Throughout the match, Timothy works on the injured shoulder of Danielson. Danielson tries for a LeBell Lock, but Thatcher reaches the ropes. Danielson gets out of a potential Avalanche Butterfly Suplex and hits a Missile Dropkick but lands on his injured shoulder. Danielson and Thatcher trade shots. Danielson gets a two-count with a backslide.

Eventually, the referee accidentally gets knocked down. Maxwell Jacob Friedman tries to come and run interference but is runoff by Takeshita. Danielson gets the win with a Running Knee.

Winner: Bryan Danielson by pinfall.

- Takeshita and MJF are shown brawling backstage, and it's announced that they will fight next week.

- Swerve Strickland will face Brian Pillman Jr. this Friday on Rampage .

- Bryan Danielson will face RUSH next week. MJF is shown giving RUSH a briefcase full of money to ensure that he hurts Danielson.

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Red Velvet

Velvet starts out aggressive and even attacks Jade in front of her own daughter. Leila Gray gets involved while the referee is not watching. Eventually, Kiera Hogan comes out to neutralize Gray. While Aubrey Edwards is distracted with Hogan and Gray, velvet appears to have Jade down for the count of three but the delay in count allows Jade to kick out. Jade eventually gets the win with Jaded. She is now 50-0.

Winner and still champion: Jade Cargill by pinfall.

- Renee Paquette checks on Britt Baker and while they are talking, Ruby Soho comes in to check on Britt's well-being. Baker and Hayter question Ruby's motive.

No Holds Barred Match for TNT Championship: Darby Allin (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Darby Allin comes to the ring in his Hoodlum hoodie, but it's covered in thumbtacks. He runs at Joe and jabs him with tacks. Joe gets the jacket off and overpowers Allin. Allin dives into Joe when he tries to get a table, the table catches Joe, and he is now busted open. They fight into the crowd, and Joe drags Allin up the steps. Joe slams Allin onto the steps. Joe chucks Darby back to ringside. Both men are bleeding. Joe continues to stay on offense. Allin briefly rallies but gets slammed.

Allin fights back, but Joe chucks him to the outside. Continuing on, Allin counters a slam. He throws powder in Joe’s eye and hits a Code Red for two. Darby follows that up with an Over the Shoulder Stunner. Allin puts the thumbtack hoodie back on and hits the Coffin Drop for a near fall.

Allin cuts the apron and the canvas loose to expose the bare ring boards. He goes for a dive, but Joe walks out of the way, sending Allin through a table. Joe powerbombs Allin onto the thumbtack jacket. Allin gouges Joe’s eyes and hits him with a chair. Darby climbs the ropes, but Joe pushes the referee into the ropes to throw off Darby's balance. Joe hits a Muscle Buster onto the exposed board for the win.

Winner and new champion: Samoa Joe by pinfall.

- After the match, Wardlow returns. He rushes the ring to attack Joe. Joe avoids a Powerbomb and Wardlow attacks security to end the show.
