AEW House Rules Results And Report (5/13): Hangman Page Returns To Action

AEW held its latest AEW House Rules event on May 13 from the Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA.

AEW HOUSE RULES SALEM VA 5/13/23 7PM

Tony Schiavone came out before the show started. Mentioned his local roots here in Virginia. Promoted dynamite Wednesday and Tony khan’s major announcement.

Tony S introduced ROH Bobby Cruise on ring announcement tonight.

FTW Title: HOOK (c) vs. Ethan Page

Ethan page out for the opener doing crowd work. Called the crowd ugly. Said he demanded a title shot from Tony khan tonight. Opening match features Ethan Page vs HOOK for the FTW title.

Hook gets the upper hand early and Page takes a pouter outside the ring and threatens to leave. Hook brings him back in.

Hook near fall off a twist of fate

Hook taps page out with redrum after a good back and forth match.

Winner: HOOK

Page wants the crowd to kiss his ass and says the match didn’t count.

Aubrey out to officiate the second match. As always she is incredibly over.

Brian Pillman Jr & Brock Anderson vs. The Gunns

Tag match up next. Brian Pillman Jr and Arn Anderson (with Arn appearing on stage) vs the Gunns (Astin & Colten Gunn). Gunns heeling it up with the crowd. Countered “ass boys” chant by trying to start “Salem sucks” chant.

Pillman with an excellent hot tag. Gunns win via pin fall on Pillman after a fun match.

Winners: The Gunns

Big Bill out with Lee Moriarty. Talking trash to the crowd. Promoting Lee vs Wardlow for TNT title and Bill vs Hangman Page. Saying he doubts Hangman shows up because of the BCC attack. Saying he hasn’t seen Hanger today. Saying he’ll accept his victory by forfeit and says it’s a no DQ match but that it doesn’t matter because he’s not showing. He’ll be in the ring and will give Hangman to the count of 10 to show up. But he won’t.

Skye Blue vs. Toni Storm

Skye Blue vs Toni Storm. Toni working Skye over pretty heavily. Skye with a near fall after spraying Toni in the eyes with green spray paint. Toni wins via pin fall.

Winner: Toni Storm

Powerhouse Hobbs & QT Marshall vs. Darby Allin & Orange Cassidy

Tag match. Hobbs and QT vs Orange Cassidy and Darby. Thunderous QT sucks chants. Good comedy spot where QT grabs the mic and asks OC if he quits and OC says “uhh. I don’t know”. Darby pins QT off the coffin drop.

Awesome scene after the match where OC and Darby brought in the kids dressed up as them from the crowd to pose in the ring and do a group hug for hard cam.

Winner: Darby & OC

Darby and OC took photos with fans for the entire 20 minute intermission

Tony S back out in the ring to keep the crowd hot.

Tony khan out after the intermission in the ring to a huge ovation. Wants to thank us for being a great crowd and says there’s a good chance they’ll be back.

ROH Title: Christopher Daniels vs. Claudio Castagnoli (c)

ROH World Title match up next. Christopher Daniels vs Claudio Castagnoli. Slow start but really built up. Really fun back and forth match. Claudio wind with a shot to the ribs with brass knucks from the tights followed by the neutralizer (is it still called that?) awesome match. Claudio refuses the handshake after the match.

Winner: Claudio

TNT Title: Lee Moriarty vs. Wardlow (c)

Moriarty Wardlow now. Wardlow super over. Arn Anderson at ringside. Surprisingly competitive match. Ref was blinded and lee tried to bring a chair in. Arn grabbed the chair. Power bomb symphony time. Wardlow wins.

Arn on the mic after the match. Says lee has potential but we’re in horsemen country and the winner was Wardlow.

Winner: Wardlow

Moriarty stayed in the ring afterwards. Big Bill coming out to claim his dq win over hanger.

Hangman Page vs. Big Bill

Cowboy shit chants. Ref counting. Hangman's music hits and he comes out right as the ref goes to count ten. Attacks big bill from behind. No dq match time. Hangman wrestling with an eyepatch.

Brawling through the crowd. Big Bill working the eye.

Crowd has been begging for tables all night. Bill just grabbed one to a huge pop. He’s setting it up in the corner. Hangman teasing buckshot all night.

Lee moriarty in the ring helping bill now. Hits bill in the head with a chair by mistake. Bill tries to go through the table at Hangman. Hanger moves but the table doesn’t break.

Buckshot connects. Hangman wins. Big Bill gets back in the ring and Hangman finishes the table off by throwing him through.

Winner: Hangman Page

Hangman with a mic. Says it’s really hard to see with one eye. Talks about almost not making it here for the match. He says to thank his momma for him being here because she told him she was bringing his whole hometown to see him so he better get his eye better.

Talks about Mother’s Day and family. Talks about friends being more than family and missing some friends who are still fighting the BCC. He says revenge means an eye for an eye. Happy trails.

Awesome show with a small but spirited crowd.
