Match By Match Recap

 

Yuji Nagata & TenCozy (Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) vs. Hirai Kawato, Teruaki Kanemitsu & Tomoaki Homna

The match begins with Tenzan wrenching on the arm of Kanemitsu, Kanemitsu fights back and he drops Tenzan with a few shots to the back. Tenzan recovers and easily drops Kanemitsu with a shoulder tackle, the wrestlers exchange forearm strikes until Tenzan starts dropping Kanemitsu with Mongolian chops. Tenzan brings Kanemitsu to the corner to assault him with a few strikes, Kanemitsu recovers to hit Tenzan with a drop kick and forearm strikes. Kawato and Nagata get tags from their partners, Kawato brings Nagata to the corner before eating a few forearm strikes. Kawato drops Nagata with a flying forearm, Nagata gets up and he clobbers Kawato with a knee strike that is followed by a kick to the back. Kojima tags in and he stomps on a downed Kawato, ojima follows that up by nailing Kawato with a neck breaker.

Kojima brings Kawato to the corner before assaulting him with a series of chops, Kojima goes to the top rope rope and he catches Kawato with an elbow drop for a near fall. Kawato finds a way to tag Homna in and Homna cleans house on his opponents, Homna eventually hits Kojima with a falling headbutt. Kojima and Homna get involved in a chopping battle in the center of the ring, Kojima gets the edge of Homna after nailing him with an ace crusher. Nagata tags in and Homna drops him with aa flying head butt, Kanemitsu tags in and he nails Nagata with a flying forearm strike. Kawata then hits Nagata with a missile drop kick and Homna follows up with a falling headbutt. Kanemitsu locks Nagata in the Boston crab and Nagata finds a way to escape, Nagata recovers and hits Kanemitsu with an exploder suplex for a near fall. Nagata locks Kanemitsu in the Boston crab and a tap out follows.

Winners: Yuji Nagata & TenCozy (Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan)

Yoshi Tatsu & Manabu Nakanishi vs. Bullet Club (Yujiro Takahashi & Bone Soldier)

The bout begins with Takahashi and Tatsu exchanging kicks to the midsection, Takahashi bites the hand of Tatsu a few times as well. Takahashi backs Tatsu into the corner while attacking him with some chops, Tatsu recovers and he drops Takahashi with a spinning heel kick.  Tatsu brings Takahashi outside the ring to continue his beat down, Nakanishi tags in and Takahashi runs over to tag Soldier in. Soldier trips up Nakanishi and he locks him in the headlock, Soldier nails Nakanishi with a few punches before getting clobbered with aa spear. Nakanishi then nails a dazed Soldier with a running clothesline in the corner, Soldier tries fighting back and Nakanishi drops him with another clothesline. Nakanishi lands a lariat on Soldier to get the near fall, Nakanishi applies the torture rack to Soldier and Takahashi nails him with a low blow to break it up.

Soldier takes advantage of the situation by attacking Nakanishi with strikes in the corner, Takahashi tags in and he nails Nakanishi with a running boot to the face. Nakanishi fights back by nailing Takahashi with forearm strikes and a back body drop, Tatsu and Soldier get tags from their partners. Tatsu attacks Soldier with a few chops and a running forearm strike, Tatsu follows that up by dropping Soldier with a series of kicks to the midsection. Tatsu and Nakanishi hit Soldier with a low kick/forearm smash combo for a two count, Nakanishi then takes the fight to Takahashi on the arena floor. Tatsu goes to the top rope and Takahashi interferes to knock him off the top rope, Soldier gets mad and he starts choking Tatsu with his belt. Soldier grabs the referee and he throws him out of the ring to cause a disqualification.

Winners: Yoshi Tatsu & Manabu Nakanishi by DQ

After the match, Soldier continues choking Tatsu with the belt until a few of the NJPW young boys break it all up.

Chaos (Yoshi-Hashi, Tomohiro Ishii, Kazuchika Okada & Hirooki Goto) vs. Bullet Club (Kenny Omega, Chase Owens, Tama Tonga & Tonga Roa)

This battle begins with Ishii and Roa locking up to see who is the strongest, Ishii and Roa both try dropping the other with shoulder tackles until Roa wins that battle. Ishii recovers to drop Roa with a clothesline, Goto tags in to nail Roa with a side suplex and a spin kick. An all-out brawl eventually breaks out between all eight competitors in the match, Goto is somehow quadruple teamed outside the ring by all the members of Bullet Club, Goto is brought into the ring and he is nailed with a combination from the Guerrillas Of Destiny. Omega tags in and he continues working over Goto in the corner, Omega takes the opportunity to assault Goto with a few chops and a flying elbow strike. Goto tries fighting back and he finally drops Omega with a discus clothesline, Okada gets the tag and Omega hustles out of the ring.

Okada then catches an attacking Roa with a DDT, Omega returns to the ring and he attacks Okada from behind. Okada tries fighting back and Owens nails him with a broomstick, Tama tags in and he throws Okada into a briefcase being held by Omega. Okada quickly recovers and he catches Tama with a drop kick, Yoshi-Hashi tags in and he hits Tama with a rolling neck breaker. Roa tries interfering and Ishii knocks him off the ring apron, Yoshi-Hashi gets a near fall on Tama as a brawl again breaks out between everybody in the match. Tama then catches Ishii with a flapjack as Goto levels everybody with clothesines, Owens hits the ring and he kicks Yoshi-Hashi in the face for a near fall. Owens stays in the ring with Yoshi-Hashi as everybody else brawls outside of the ring, Yoshi-Hashi catches Owens with his finisher from out of nowhere to get the three count.

Winners: Chaos (Yoshi-Hashi, Tomohiro Ishii, Kazuchika Okada & Hirooki Goto)

Juice Robinson, Katsuyuri Shibata, Togi Makabe & Hiroyoshi Tanahashi vs. Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Bushi, Evil & Sanada)

This match begins with Shibata quickly nailing Evil with a boot to the face, Shibata drops Evil with a few strikes in the corner. Evil fights back dropping Shibata with a shoulder tackle, Makabe gets the tag from Shibata and Naito gets one from Evil. Sanada jumps Makabe from behind as Naito tags Bushi in, Bushi kicks at Makabe before eating a clothesline. Makabe traps Bushi in the corner before nailing him with a few punches to the face, it is not long before everybody in the match is engaging in an eight-man brawl around the ringside area. Evil eventually tags back in and he eats some forearm strikes from Makabe, Evil recovers to drop Makabe and nail him with a senton for a two count.

Sanada tags in and he continues the beating on a downed Makabe, Makabe eventually drops Sanada with a clothesline so he can tag Tanahashi in. Tanahashi goes to work on Sanada and he quickly nails him with the sling blade, Tanahashi follows that up by hitting Sanada with a middle rope swanton bomb for a near fall. Evil interferes and that allows Sanada to drop Tanahashi with a drop kick, Tanahashi recovers to hit Sanada with a drop kick of his own. Tanahashi misses a move from the top rope and he gets a tag into Robinson, Naito gets the tag as well and he has a forearm strike exchange with Robinson. Robinson then hits Naito with a boot to the face that is followed by a series of jabs, Robinson eventually drops Naito with a flying clothesline. Robinson catches Naito with a jackhammer for a near fall, the other six wrestlers in the match are brawling around ringside.

Robinson goes to the top rope and Bushi interferes to knock him off the top rope, Evil and Bushi double team Robinson as Naito recovers. Naito locks Robinson in the Muta Lock and Tanahashi reaks the hold to make the save, all the competitors in the match are taking the other out. Robinson tries fighting back against both Naito and Evil, Naito catches Robinson with a reverse DDT for a near fall. Naito follows up by hitting Robinson with Destino to get the three count.

Winners: Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Bushi, Evil & Sanada)

David Finlay vs. Will Ospreay

The match kicks off with Finlay and Ospreay going through a series of reversals and takedowns, Ospreay drags Finlay to the ground while working over his arm. Finlay reverses things and Ospreay quickly tags him back down with an arm drag, Ospreay knocks Finlay out of the ring with a hurricarana. Finlay returns to the ring after a fake suicide dive attempt from Ospreay, Finlay then hits a charging Ospreay with a back elbow and that’s followed up by a middle rope European uppercut. Finlay slams Ospreay and then he tosses him to the arena floor, Finlay takes a downed Ospreay and he throws him shoulder first into the ring post. Finlay follows that attack up by throwing Ospreay into a bunch of empty chairs in the crowd, Ospreay beats the count back into the ring and Finlay stoomps on his injured shoulder. Finlay places Ospreay in the corner before nailing him with a running European uppercut for the two count, Finlay slows things down by holding Ospreay in the chin lock. Ospreay tries fighting back and Ospreay nails Finlay with a springboard spinning wheel kick to the head.

Finlay rolls out of the ring and Ospreay catches him with a suicide dive, Ospreay tosses Finlay back into the ring before hitting him with a springboard forearm strike for the near fall. Ospreay looks for the Rain Maker and Finlay counters with a few European uppercuts, Ospreay catches a charging Finlay with a one man Spanish fly for a near fall. Ospreay goes to the ropes and Finlay crotches him on the middle rope, Finlay nails a trapped Ospreay with several strikes for a near fall. Finlay follows that up by nailing Ospreay with a suplex for the near fall, Finlay places Ospreay on the top rope and he sets up for a superplex. Ospreay fights back and he exchnages blows with Finlay, Ospreay traps Finlay in the corner before catching him with a superkick for a near fall. Finlay surprises Ospreay with a roll up for a near fall, Ospreay catches Finlay with a springboard ace crusher to get the three count.

Winner: Will Ospreay

NJPW Super Junior Tag Team Tournament Opening Round Match: Titan & Angel De Oro vs. RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Berretta)

The contest begins with De Oro catching Romero with an arm drag takedown, Romero backs De Oro into the ring ropes before kicking him in the midsection and dropping him with a shoulder tackle. De Oro recovers and he knocks Romero out of the ring for a few moments, Titan tags in and he allows Romero to tag Berretta in. Berretta gets Titan to the ground and he briefly wrenches on his arm as they both get back up, Titan eventually escapes Berretta to nail him with an arm drag and drop kick. Berretta rolls out of the ring and clotheslines Titan when he follows him out of the ring, a brawl quickly breaks out on the outside of the ring between all four competitors. Berretta brings Titan back into the ring and he tags Romero in, Romero stomps on Titan before getting the near fall. Romero brings Titan to the corner before dropping him with several strikes, RPG Vice double team Titan with a lifted knee strike in the corner.

Berretta stays in the ring and he gets a near fall on a downed Titan, Romero traps Titan in the corner before crushing him with several running clotheslines. Titan catches a charging Romero with a boot to the face and a hurricarana before tagging De Oro in, De Oro knocks Romero out of the ring and he follows up with a moonsault onto Romero. De Oro brings Romero back into the ring for a two count on a pin attempt, Romero nails a charging De Oro with a European uppercut and some chops. Titan interferes by kicking a charging Romero in the head, De Oro then hits Romero with aa springboard drop kick for a near fall. Berretta comes back in the ring and he catches De Oro with a flying knee strike, Berretta then hits a cornered De Oro with a tornado DDT for the near fall. Berretta sets up for his finisher and Titan interferes, Berretta takes care of Titan with a release German suplex.

De Oro recovers and he cracks Berretta with a super kick, Titan gets back in the ring and he catches Romero with a head scissors takedown. RPG Vide roll out of the ring and they gets taken out with double suicide dives from their opponents, Berretta gets back in the ring and De Oro nails him with a super kick followed up by a springboard moonsault for a near fall. De Oro and Titan double team Berretta with a series of clotheslines in the corner, Berretta recovers and hits a leaping Titan with a boot to the face. De Oro responds by attacking Berretta with a series of chops, Berretta then hits a charging De Oro with a running knee strike. Berretta catches De Oro with an inverted pile driver for the three count.

Winners: RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Berretta)

NJPW Super Junior Tag Team Tournament Opening Round Match: Tiger Mask IV & Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Feugo

This match begins with Liger scoring a takedown on Feugo before getting caught with an arm drag, Liger quickly drops and locks Feugo in the pendulum swing and then a camel clutch. Feugo breaks free and he catches Liger with an arm drag, Mask IV and Taguchi get tags from their respective partners. Taguchi backs Mask IV into the corner before nailing him with a hip attack, Taguchi misses another hip attack and Mask IV drop kicks him in the buttocks. Mask IV knocks Taguchi out of the ring and he catches him with a suicide dive afterwards, Taguchi is thrown back into the ring and Mask IV kicks him in the behind a few more times. Liger tags back in and he locks Taguchi in the surfboard hold, Liger modifies the hold into a dragon sleeper and Taguchi nearly goes to sleep.

Mask IV tags back in and he stomps on a downed Taguchi, Mask IV catches Taguchi with a double under hook suplex for a near fall. Mask IV traps Taguchi in the corner before kicking him in the backside a few times, Taguchi goes for a hip attack and Mask IV kicks him in the bum again. Taguchi eventually slows down Mask IV enough to get the tag in to Feugo, Feugo drops Mask IV before nailing him with a middle rope moonsault. Feugo taunts Mask IV before nailing him with a springboard arm drag, Mask IV recovers to hit Feugo with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Liger tags back in and he hits Feugo with a sit out power bomb for a near fall, Feugo eventually drops Liger and Mask IV with drop kicks. Taguchi returns to the ring and he attacks both opponents with hip attacks, Taguchi nails Liger with a springboard hip attack for a near fall.

Mask IV tries to attack Taguchi and Taguchi nails him with a pump handle front slam, Liger nails a charging Taguchi with a Thesz Press for a near fall. Liger looks for a brain buster and Taguchi counters with an inzaguri, Feugo nails Mask IV with a suicide dive outside the ring. Liger hits Taguchi with a running palm strike and brain buster for a two count, Taguchi catches Liger in a modified ankle lock from out of nowhere and Liger taps out.

Winners: Ryusuke Taguchi & Feugo

NJPW Super Junior Tag Team Tournament Opening Round Match: ACH & Taiji Ishimori vs. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

The main event begins with Matt and Ishimori going through a series of reversals, Ishimori knocks Matt out of the ring by nailing him with a hurricarana. ACH and Nick get the tags from their respective partners, ACH and Nick attack each other with a few arm drags. ACH sends an interfering Matt to the arena floor, Nick does the same to Ishimori and both men kick their opponents in the face. Matt interferes again to drag ACH to the arena floor, Nick and Ishimori both do suicide dives to take everybody out of the match. ACH tags Ishimori into the ring and they both nail Matt with a series of kicks, the Bucks recover and they nail their opponents with some super kicks. The Bucks bring their opponents outside the ring and hit them with power bombs on the edge of the ring, Nick brings Ishimori back into the ring to stomp on him a few times.

Nick drags Ishimori to the ropes so he can choke him for a little bit, Matt tags in and he nails Ishimori with a top rope axe handle drop to the arm. Nick tags back in and he attacks the injured arm of Ishimori, Matt gets another tag and he works over the injured arm of Ishimori as well. Nick comes back in the ring via a tag and Ishimori nails him with a few forearm strikes followed by a drop kick, Ishimori looks for the tag and Nick nails him with a tornado kick to the head for a near fall. Matt traps Ishimori in the corner so he can assault him with a plethora of strikes, both Bucks come in the ring and Ishimori takes them out with a double hurricarana before tagging ACH in. ACH quickly takes out Matt with a suicide dive, ACH then hits Nick with a series of clotheslines and forearm strikes.

ACH then cracks Nick with a springboard flat liner for the near fall, Nick then hits ACH with a running knee strike after interference from Matt. The Bucks then take out Ishimori with a head scissors/drop kick combination, ACH recovers to take out the Bucks with a combo DDT and flat liner. Ishimori returns to the ring and he hits both Bucks with running double knee strikes, ACH and Ishimori nail the Bucks with German suplexes for the near fall. Ishimori and ACH double team Matt while Nick is outside of the ring, ACH is then hit by a super kick from Nick. The Buck then hit Ishimori with a rope assisted swanton bomb for a near fall, the Bucks then nail Ishimori with a power bomb/inzaguri combo in the corner for a near fall. ACH returns and he eats a super kick from Matt, Nick and ACH get tangled up as they attempt super kicks on each other.

ACH and Nick battle on the arena floor as Matt and Ishimori battle inside the ring, Matt goes outside the ring to put ACH on his shoulders so Nick can crack him with a super kick. The Bucks hit Ishimori with a springboard splash/moonsault combo for the near fall, the Bucks then nail Ishimori with a double super kick for another two count. The Bucks go for More Bang For Your Buck and ACH breaks it all up, ACH and Ishimori go to the top rope and the Bucks meet them up there. ACH and Ishimori knock the Bucks back to the mat below and miss the follow up splash attempts, the Bucks then attack ACH with a cannonball senton/inzaguri combination. The Buck hit ACH with a combination for a near fall, Ishimori tries to fight off the Bucks and ACH nails Nick with a bull dog to help him partner. The Bucks are laid out and they get hit with stereo 450 splashes from Ishimori and ACH for the three count.
