This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE NXT! Tonight is set to be a jam packed edition of NXT as in our main event we have Shinsuke Nakamura defending his NXT World Championship against Samoa Joe in a steel cage as well as qualifying matches for the #1 Contender Fatal 4-Way as The Dillinger takes on Eric Young, No Way Jose takes on Andrade Almas, Roderick Strong takes on Elias Samson and Bobby Roode takes on Oney Lorcan so be sure to come back here at 8PM EST to find out who advances and if Shinsuke can retain his title once again!
-We open with a video package for Shinsuke's journey back to becoming champion and the second two time champion in NXT.
-We open up the show with the cage match rather than having it as the main event.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe NXT Championship Steel Cage Match
Shinsuke takes Joe down quickly then Joe gets back up then they lock up for a clean break then Shinsuke tells Joe to bring it before drooping him with a snap mare then a jumping knee then finally Good Vibrations in the corner. Joe picks up Shinsuke and tosses him into the cage then hits him with a series of right hands when he's trapped against the cage then splashes into him as we go to commercial.
Shinsuke hits Joe with a series of knees then goes for a standing guillotine then tosses Joe into the cage before hitting a massive German suplex showing off his strength. Shinsuke goes for a Kinshasa,but Joe catches him and hits a powerslam for a close 2 count, the two exchanging forearms immediately after. then Shinsuke misses a kick, allowing Joe to lock in the Coquina Clutch in the center of the ring, but Shinsuke flips back over Joe using the ropes then hits a sliding knee to the face of Joe for a close 2 count of his own. Shinsuke starts to attempt to leave the cage, but Joe is right on him then Joe goes for a Muscle Buster off the top rope then Shinsuke hits a powerbomb off the top rope before climbing the cage, balancing on the ropes and hits a Kinshasa from the top rope, the two of them collapsing from exhaustion. Shinsuke starts to leave the cage, but closes the door then hits two more Kinshasa for the pin and the win.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall
Tye Dillinger vs Eric Young #1 Contender Qualifying Match
EY rushes right at Tye and hits him with a series of right hands before Tye turns it around and hits him then drops EY when he's whipped into a corner, following up with 10 punches in the corner then finishes by stomping him 10 times. Tye knocks Wolfe off the apron then Nikki gets on Tye's back, trying to choke him then EY pulls her away and drops Tye with a lariat.
Winner: Tye Dillinger via disqualification
-After the match Tye sends them all out of the ring then Damo comes out of no where and destroys Tye.
Andrade Almas vs No Way Jose #1 Contender Qualifying Match
They lock up to start the match then exchange holds before Jose hits a flapjack then an airplane spin into a rolling senton then finally a leg drop for a quick 1 count. Almas clubs Jose in the back then hits a snap mare before hitting a dropkick to the side of the face of Jose for a quick 2 count. Jose hits a series of right hands then drops Almas repeatedly, going for a right hand, but Almas counters then Jose hits a pop up punch for a close 2 count. Almas hits a big boot then a form of a DDT for the pin and the win.
Winner: Andrade Almas via pinfall
Elias Samson vs Roderick Strong #1 Contender Qualifying Match
Samson drops Strong immediately then stomps him in the corner before tossing him across the ring, showing off his strength then Strong drops Samson with a leg lariat and a backbreaker for a quick 2 count. They lock up for a not so clean break, Samson using the ropes to throttle Strong then hangs him to the tree of woe before choking him from behind. Samson smashes Roderick's face into the apron then hits a running knee before getting back into the ring then drops him with a right hand. Strong hits Samson with a dropkick then a jumping knee in the corner then a running forearm then a double knee to the gut before hitting a running leg lariat for the pin and the win.
Winner: Roderick Strong via pinfall
Bobby Roode vs Oney Lorcan #1 Contender Qualifying Match
They exchange wrist locks then Roode mocks Oney before he hits him with a right hands then splashes him in the corner then finally a suplex for a quick 2 count, following up with a back drop for another quick 2 count. They're on the top rope and Roode sends Lorcan off of the top rope, hitting his neck against the top rope then Roode hits him with a series of stomps in the corner before clubbing Lorcan. Lorcan gets a quick 2 count off of a back slide then drops Roode repeatedly then hits a running blockbuster for a close 2 count. Roode hits a massive spinebuster then picks Lorcan up and hits a DDT for the pin and the win.
