WWE Raw 8/24/20 Results: 2 Title Matches, Keith Lee Debuts & Randy Orton Goes Punt Happy

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

- WWE Champion Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring to start the show, highlights are then shown of McIntyre versus Randy Orton from WWE Summerslam ’20. McIntyre gets the microphone and he welcomes everybody to the first Raw in the Thunderdome, McIntyre talks about his win over Orton at WWE Summerslam ’20. McIntyre says the secret to his success is that he is hungrier and a hard worker because he’s proud to be WWE Champion, McIntyre says he knows what it’s like to go through hard times. McIntyre says he was better than Orton at WWE Summerslam ’20, McIntyre says he knows that Orton will want another shot at his title down the line before issuing a warning to Orton. Orton attacks McIntyre as McIntyre was heading up the entrance ramp, McIntyre fights back and they battle backstage. Orton rakes the eyes of McIntyre before shoving him into a wall, Orton then nails McIntyre with a pair of punts.

- WWE officials are shown attending to Drew McIntyre after the commercial break.

- Nia Jax is walking backstage when Sarah Schreiber looks to interview her, Jax says she is no longer under suspension because she apologized to Pat Buck. Shayna Baszler appears and she says everybody is waiting for Jax to get suspended again, Baszler mocks Jax and Jax does the same to her.

- Nia Jax comes on stage before the next match begins.

Bayley w/Sasha Banks vs. Shayna Baszler

The match begins with Baszler working over the arm of Bayley, Bayley looks for a drop toe hold and Baszler continues damaging her arm. Baszler nails Bayley’s injured shoulder with a sole food, Bayley takes a break on the arena floor before returning to the ring and landing some strikes of Baszler. Bayley takes Baszler down a few times with headlocks, Baszler gets free and she cracks Bayley with some forearm strikes followed by a knee strike. Bayley goes for a roll up and Baszler gets her in a triangle choke, Banks distracts Baszler and Bayley attacks her from behind. Bayley corners Baszler while attacking her with some kicks and a suplex, Bayley keeps Baszler down while landing some strikes on her. Bayley drops Baszler before landing a few elbow strikes for a near fall, Baszler fights back and Bayley sends her out of the ring. Jax interferes and she attacks Baszler.

Winner: Shayna Baszler, by DQ

After the match, Nia Jax gets Shayna Baszler in the ring after a brief scuffle and Jax attacks Baszler with some strikes. Baszler and Jax realize Bayley and Sasha Banks were manipulating them and they chase them off.

- Kevin Owens is shown talking to a stagehand backstage, Owens finds Aleister Black’s locker room and he asks if Black will appear on the KO Show.

- Kevin Owens is in the ring for another edition of the KO Show, Owens then brings out Aleister Black as his guest for the show. Owens says people have been concerned about Black eye since Murphy injured his eye a month ago, Black demands that footage be shown of Murphy injuring his eye. Owens starts talking and Black falls out of his chair grabbing his eye, Black faked the injury and he attacks Owens before laying him out with a Black Mass.

- Sasha Banks and Bayley are approached backstage by Charly Caruso, Bayley says they avoided Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler so Banks wouldn’t get hurt before her title match.

WWE 24/7 Championship
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Akira Tozawa w/Ninjas vs. R-Truth

The match begins with Benjamin immediately attacking Tozawa and R-Truth goes for a pin on him, Alexander goes after Benjamin and he nails him with a drop kick. Alexander uses a head scissors takedown to send Benjamin into the corner, Benjamin lands a knee strike on Alexander to knock him out of the ring. Benjamin picks Tozawa up and he power bombs him onto the ninjas, R-Truth knocks Benjamin out of the ring and Tozawa rolls him up for a three count.

Winner: Akira Tozawa, your new WWE 24/7 Champion

- Sarah Schreiber interviews Randy Orton, who says little before walking away from her.

- Randy Orton makes his way to the ring and he has a microphone in hand, Orton says he has done what he wanted until Drew McIntyre defeated him at WWE Summerslam ’20. Orton says he will be a man of his word and he did what he said he would do to various WWE legends, Orton says he attacked McIntyre because the opportunity presented itself. Orton says he also attacked McIntyre because the rematch offer was made out of pity, Keith Lee interrupts and makes his way to the ring. Lee gets a microphone and he says Orton seems perplexed as to why he’s out here, Lee introduces himself to Orton. Lee says he has an opportunity to offer Orton and that is to bask in his glory, Lee talks about everything he and Orton have been called over their careers. Lee challenges Orton to a match tonight and Orton turns him down before leaving the ring.

- Charly Caruso approaches Zelina Vega, Angel Garza and Demi, Caruso wants to know if Vega is ready to admit that she poisoned Montez Ford. Garza tries defending her and Vega storms off angrily, Garza hits on Demi in front of a disgusted Caruso.

Angel Garza w/Demi Burnett & Andrade vs. Montez Ford w/Angelo Dawkins

The match begins with Garza getting Ford in a headlock, Ford gets free and he nails Garza with a drop kick. Ford gets knocked to the ring apron and he nails Garza with an enziguri, Ford leaps off the top rope and Garza nails him with a drop kick for a near fall. Garza gets Ford on the top rope and he follows him up there, Garza hangs Ford upside down in the corner before landing a kick for a near fall. Garza holds Ford down while working over his arm, Ford fights back and he misses an enziguri attempt. Garza then knocks Ford out of the ring with a drop kick, Ivar comes out and he offers Demi a turkey leg before she leaves with him. Ford goes to the top rope and Garza meets him up there after landing a few strikes, Ford knocks Garza off the ropes before landing a frog splash for a three count.

Winner: Montez Ford w/Angelo Dawkins

- Shayna Baszler is approached by Nia Jax backstage, Jax says she realizes that she and Baszler could win the women’s tag team titles if they work together. Baszler says she’ll help Jax win the titles if she leaves her alone, Jax pokes Baszler and Baszler slaps her.

- The Riott Squad bump into Bianca Belair backstage and they say they’ll beat Zelina Vega & The IIconics tonight.

Zelina Vega & The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) vs. Bianca Belair & The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott)

The match begins with Kay nailing Morgan with a few strikes before tagging Royce in, Morgan fights back and she nails a cornered Royce with an avalanche. Riott tags in and she double teams Royce with Morgan, Kay tags in and she nails Riott with Shades Of Kay for a near fall. Royce tags back in and she double teams Riott with Kay, Vega tags in and she stomps away on a downed Riott. Vega then nails a cornered Riott with a knee strike for a near fall, Vega keeps Riott down while applying a dragon sleeper to her. Vega goes after Riott’s corner and that allows Belair to tag in, Belair quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Belair then nails Vega with a Glam Slam and handspring moonsault for a near fall, The IIconics hit the ring and The Riott Squad takes care of them. Belair nails Vega with a KOD for a three count.

Winners: Bianca Belair & The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott)

- Ricochet and Cedric Alexander are having an arm wrestling contest when Mark Henry shows up, Henry has some WWE officials take the arm wrestling table to the ring. MVP arrives and he criticizes Alexander for arm wrestling Ricochet, MVP accuses Ricochet of abandoning Alexander last week and he says The Hurt Business wouldn’t do that to him.

- Mark Henry is in the ring for the arm wrestling challenge between Apollo Crews and Bobby Lashley, Lashley comes out first and Crews comes out next. Henry says nobody is allowed to interfere in tonight’s arm wrestler challenge, Lashley says he doesn’t need any help beating Crews tonight and then at WWE Payback ’20. Crews says he’ll beat Lashley tonight and at WWE Payback ’20, the arm wrestling challenge begins and Crews wins after a cheap shot on Lashley. Lashley attacks Crews afterwards and Crews knocks him out of the ring, The Hurt Business comes out and Crews nails them with a suicide dive.

- Highlights are shown of what went down at WWE Summerslam ’20 between Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio.

- Charly Caruso interviews The Mysterio Family, Rey says he is proud of Dominik and Angie concurs, Rey says Dominik gave Seth Rollins hell last night. Dominik says he was terrified last night, but his family gave him the courage to compete against Rollins at WWE Summerslam ’20. Rey says Rollins will have a family of his own one day and he’ll understand what he put the Mysterio Family through, Rey says that Dominik became a man last night. Rey says he has always dreamed of teaming with his son and Rollins won’t ruin the moment tonight, Rey calls Dominik the future of WWE Raw.

- Natalya and Lana are in the ring and they say they are here to induct a woman into the hall of fame, Lana starts talking about how great Natalya is. Natalya says they are here to pay tribute to Mickie James tonight, Lana and Natalya start mocking James before saying they are retiring her. A video package airs highlighting James career and nothing shows, James hits the ring to attack Natalya and Lana.

- The Hurt Business approach Shane McMahon and Bobby Lashley says he wants to fight on Raw Underground.

- Bobby Lashley is shown destroying some unknown person on Raw Underground, Dolph Ziggler challenges Lashley next and Lashley knocks Ziggler out of the ring and into a wall to end that fight. Lashley destroys a third opponent after that.

Randy Orton vs. Keith Lee

The match begins with Lee backing Orton into the corner, Orton gets free and he quickly gets Lee in a headlock. Lee gets free and he nails Orton with a shoulder block, Orton gets up and he attacks Lee with a few strikes. Lee blocks a punch from Orton and he tries crushing his hand, Lee then hits Orton with an overhead belly to belly suplex. Orton leaves the ring and Lee follows him out there, Orton recovers and he shoves Lee into the ring post. Lee gets back in the ring and Orton follows him in there before stomping away on him, Orton holds Lee down while applying a chin lock. Lee gets up with Orton on his back and he crushes him in the corner, Lee then hits Orton with an avalanche and running cross body block. Lee follows up by knocking Orton out of the ring with a shoulder tackle, Lee gets Orton back in the ring and Orton recovers to land a draping DDT on him. Orton sets up for the RKO when Drew McIntyre drags him out of the ring to attack him.

Winner: Randy Orton, by DQ

After the match, Randy Orton runs backstage to avoid more damage from Drew McIntyre.

- Highlights are shown of Roman Reigns’ WWE return at WWE Summerslam ’20.

- Charly Caruso interviews Drew McIntyre, who says it didn’t feel good getting kicked in the skull twice tonight, Randy Orton attacks McIntyre from behind before landing another punt.

- Charly Caruso is outside the trainers room and she says that Drew McIntyre may have suffered a skull fracture and it could be career threatening.

Raw Women’s Championship
Lumberjack Match
Asuka (c) vs. Sasha Banks w/Bayley

The match begins with Banks rolling up Asuka for a near fall, Asuka gets angry and she tosses Banks out of the ring. Banks shoves a lumberjack and Asuka knocks her back to the arena floor, all the lumberjacks go face to face as we go to a commercial break. We return from the break to see Banks dragging Asuka out of the ring before attacking her with strikes, Bayley also attacks Asuka before Banks gets her back in the ring for a near fall on a pin attempt. Banks charges at Asuka and Asuka drops her with a kick, Asuka then nails Banks with a leaping DDT from the middle rope for a near fall. Asuka follows up by getting Banks in an ankle lock, Banks gets free and she sends Asuka out of the ring. Banks goes for a dive on Asuka and she winds up landing on The Riott Squad, Asuka then hits Banks with a sliding a kick. Asuka goes after Bayley and she takes out several lumberjacks, Banks shoves Asuka into the ring post before getting her back in the ring. Banks then nails Asuka with a frog splash for a near fall, Bayley goes to give Banks a steel chair and Shayna Baszler attacks her. Asuka gets Banks in the Asuka Locks and Banks taps out.

Winner: Asuka, still the Raw Women’s Champion

- Drew McIntyre is shown being taken out of the arena via ambulance, Charly Caruso arrives to say McIntyre will undergo more testing. Keith Lee appears and he talks about watching his friend getting loaded in an ambulance, Lee believes McIntyre will be OK in the end and Randy Orton won’t be in the end.

- Rey & Dominik Mysterio are shown backstage.

- Raw Underground is back and Bobby Lashley destroys Cedric Alexander until The Hurt Business and Shane McMahon hit the ring, an all out brawl breaks out between various WWE superstars and The Hurt Business leaves victorious.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy

The match begins with a brawl breaking out between both teams as Rollins and Murphy were making their entrances, Rollins grabs Rey and he tosses him over the announce table. Rollins and Murphy throw Dominik in the ring, the bell sounds and Dominik nails Murphy with a few arm drags. Dominik also knocks Murphy out of the ring with a drop kick, Rollins tries interfering and Dominik knocks him to the arena floor. Murphy gets back in the ring and Dominik knocks him back out, Rey gets Rollins back in the ring and The Mysterio’s double team him with a short time. Dominik takes out Murphy and Rollins with a dive as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Rollins nail Rey with a gut buster for a near fall. Rollins briefly attacks Dominik before going back to work on Rey, Rey fights back and he eventually drops Rollins with a bulldog. Murphy tags in and he prevents Rey from tagging Dominik in, Rey drops Murphy and he eventually tags Dominik in.

Dominik sends Murphy into the corner before landing a few clotheslines, Dominik then hits Murphy with a springboard cross body block for a near fall. Dominik uses a middle rope hurricarana to knock Murphy into the ring post, Dominik also nails Murphy with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Dominik leaves the ring to go after Murphy and he gets Murphy back in the ring, Murphy nails Dominik with a chop block after interference from Rollins. Rollins tags in and Rey gets the tag a short time later, Murphy makes a blind tag as Rollins leaves the ring. Murphy catches Rey in a roll up for a near fall, Dominik tags in and Murphy is nailed with a double 619 before going to the top rope. The lights go out and the distraction allows Rollins to knock Dominik off the ropes, Retribution arrives and they attack The Mysterio’s.

Winners: Rey & Dominik Mysterio, by DQ

After the match, Retribution continues attacking The Mysterio’s, two members of thee group launch Rey head first into the ring post.
