Rey Fenix Ends Laredo Kid’s AAA World Cruiserweight Title Reign At Noches de Los Grandes

Rey Fenix regains the AAA World Cruiserweight Title.

Week one of Lucha Libre AAA’s Noches de Los Grandes event took place on May 30th in Monterrey, Mexico. The first match of the show saw Laredo Kid put the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on the line against Rey Fenix.

The two wrestlers met on the 5/23 AAA on FOX with the title on the line. Laredo retained over Fenix after hitting him with a low blow and Frog Splash combination.

They ran it back at Noches de Los Grandes, and early in the bout, Laredo had Fenix grounded after kicking him in the head. Fenix got back in the mix, and there was a moment when he blocked a low blow from Laredo.

While the referee was tending to an exposed turnbuckle, Laredo low blowed Fenix and went for a Frog Splash, but Fenix kicked out at two.

The conclusion of the bout saw Fenix put Laredo Kid away with a Mexican Muscle Buster to become the new AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. Laredo had been in possession of the belt since December 2024.

Fenix has regained the title that he relinquished in 2022.
