Rey Mysterio is closer to the end of his career than the beginning and with time running out, he is enjoying his time working with young talent. While a few wrestlers have been dubbed "the next Rey Mysterio" throughout their career, Rey only has one man in mind for who he believes is on his way to being on the same level as him.
When asked by BT Sport who he sees as the future of the business, Mysterio replied, "When you're in this world and you come home, the last thing you want to do is watch wrestling or hear about other wrestlers. I secluded myself very well. But there comes a point where you gotta make sure you see your competition. Who is up and coming? [Ricochet] is one of the guys who really stood out to me. He's been doing incredible. I personally feel he is the next Rey Mysterio."
He continued, "I enjoy giving advice if they ask for it. I love having the best seat in the house when I'm teaming up with [a guy like] Ricochet. I see how perfectionist these guys are and the passion in the ring."
Ricochet and Mysterio worked against each other during Mysterio's time on the Independent scene before Ricochet signed with WWE and Rey returned to the company. They teamed together on WWE Raw and at live events at the end of 2019.
