Rey Mysterio Hopes Dominik Will Wrestle In 2020, Says He Can Retire After They Share The Ring

Rey Mysterio has accomplished just about everything in his professional career. The current WWE United States Champion is a legend in the sport, helped popularize Lucha wrestling in the United States and has won championships across the world. But despite all the accolades, there's still one more thing Mysterio would like to accomplish before he retires.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Rey stated that he would like to share the ring with his son Dominik before he officially hangs up his mask.

"I most definitely would love to share the ring properly with him in a Tag Team Match or a 3 vs 3, but I definitely would love to potentially share the ring with him one day. I definitely would love to potentially share the ring with him one day. I think, after that happens, I can retire peacefully," he said.

Dominik has been by his father's side throughout the year on WWE television, even getting involved in Rey's match with Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series. Dominik has been training at various schools, and Rey hopes that his son will be ready to step into the ring at some point in 2020.

"I'm hoping that my son can be ready by next year. I hope that we can all get the chance to see him in 2020, and I'm just as excited as the fans to see him step into the ring and have an official match, so let's hope that it's next year, by the end of the year 2020," said Rey. "I would definitely love for him to carry on the Mysterio name. It'll be up to him if he wants to wear the mask or not, I think he's very well-identified right now."

Rey is still going strong, having recently won the WWE United States Championship. He is set to put the title on the line against Seth Rollins on the Dec. 23 WWE Raw.
