Rey Mysterio Provides Update On Recovery From Injury: "I Should Be Back Hopefully By August"

Mysterio is hoping to be back before the end of summer 2025.

On the Friday Night SmackDown before WrestleMania 41, Rey Mysterio was involved in a six-man tag team match during which he suffered a torn groin.

The injury forced Mysterio to miss his scheduled singles bout against El Grande Americano on night two of WrestleMania, and he was replaced by Rey Fenix. Mysterio guest appeared on LA PLATICA and detailed how the injury happened.

“So, I was explaining to someone yesterday that I tore my groin. He goes, ‘How did it happen? Was it when they pulled you?’ I said, ‘No…’ The guy that I was wrestling stood in front of me. He bailed out the ring underneath the bottom rope and I went to chase him and when I pushed off with my left leg, I just heard a (*rip noise*). Like, that’s it? I tore my groin like that? And yeah, usually it happens on the simplest sh*t.”

In addition to rehabbing after undergoing surgery for the torn groin, Mysterio had his busted eardrum fixed.

He provided an update on his recovery from the injuries and said he is hoping to be back in the ring by August.

“Good. Pretty good (Mysterio said about his recovery from injury). I started my PT. Not to mention, I had a busted eardrum as well so I fixed that during my time off. I’m on the road to recovery. I should be back hopefully by August.”

The Hall of Famer is being advertised for WWE house shows in Mexico in late July.
