Rey Pegasus Speaks On Sharing The Ring With Fellow Indie Wrestlers In CMLL Torneo de Escuelas

Rey Pegasus talks about meeting fellow wrestlers in CMLL Torneo de Escuelas.

Rey Pegasus and Tornado won the 2026 edition of CMLL Torneo de Escuelas. He’s since won the Mexican National Middleweight Championship in the promotion as well.

Speaking with Fightful’s Luis Pulido, Pegasus discussed meeting fellow indie wrestlers such as Karma I, Tornado, Cerebro Negro Jr., and many more in the Torneo de Escuelas.

“That’s right. I spent many years as an independent wrestler, and, obviously, I met a lot of fellow wrestlers—many from the wrestling scene. When we went to ask for a chance or to train at the wrestling schools, well, obviously, since we had different coaches, sometimes our schedules didn’t align. When the tryouts came around—and they do hold them to determine whether you’ll participate or not—it was a surprise to run into each other there and see familiar faces, specifically people I’d already faced and with whom I’d shared the locker room and the ring on the independent circuit. It was a surprise, more than anything, to realize, ‘Oh, look, here we are now, and we’re going to give it a shot.’ It’s really cool—it’s really cool—that so many of our fellow wrestlers who’ve been grinding it out in the independent circuit have made it here, been given this opportunity, and taken advantage of it. It’s a surprise, and it’s really cool to share the locker room with them right now because we know where we came from; we know what we struggled through before to make it to the best wrestling promotion.”
