Rhea Ripley On WWE Creative Pitches, ‘You Have To Make It Your Own’

Rhea Ripley explains her approach to ideas that WWE Creative presents to her, which she isn’t entirely on board with.

WWE is a collaborative effort. The wrestlers in the ring not only work with one another, but they also collaborate with producers and the creative team to craft the story of the round, including the matches that take place in the squared circle. The new Netflix series, WWE Unreal, will take viewers even closer to the creative process behind WWE.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Rhea Ripley was asked how she approaches storylines that she isn’t fond of when they’re pitched to her. She says that she and the rest of the WWE roster are skilled at adding their own spin to what’s presented to them, making it feel authentic.

“You kind of just try and make it your own. You have to put your personal twist on things. Because sometimes you can give your ideas and have that, like, work together on what is actually being done, but sometimes they’re set on what they want, and you just have to make it into something that represents you how you are. That’s the best that you can do sometimes. I feel like we’re all very good at making something our own.”

The new series will premiere on Tuesday, July 29. Learn more about the series here.
