Rhea Ripley looks back on her first ever televised match with WWE and how she was dry heaving due to nerves before going to the ring.

Ripley would make her WWE debut in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, where she would face off with and defeat Miranda Salinas before being eliminated in the second round by Dakota Kai.

While speaking to ESPN in a new interview, Rhea Ripley reflected on her WWE debut, recalling how she was dry heaving due to nerves before going out.

“Oh man, I just remember how scared I was. I was so scared, like right before this match, They had, because it was at Full Sail University, they had these tables outside where you go through to go into gorilla, and they’re like little umbrella tables, and I remember sitting at the table and I’m just like dry heaving, and I’m like, ‘I’m going to vomit.’ Like, ‘oh, I’m going to vomit. This is so scary.’ I was terrified. I was only 20 years old. I was just a baby. It was my first like televised match, and I just wanted to do good, dude.”

Rhea was then asked if she was able to look back on her debut and think ‘I did good.’

“I did, yeah. I definitely look back at it and I go, I was very innocent and I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I did it and I did well.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Rhea spoke about the origins of her finisher, The Riptide. You can read more about that here.
