Ric Flair On MJF Throwing A Drink At A Fan: He Went Too Far, That Shit Wouldn't Fly In WWE

Ric Flair says MJF went too far at AEW Revolution.

AEW World Champion MJF headlined AEW Revolution on March 5; he defended the title against Bryan Danielson in a 60-minute Iron Man Match. During the bout, MJF sparked plenty of controversy when he grabbed a drink and threw the contents of the cup at a young fan.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair was asked whether he thought MJF went too far. "The Nature Boy" stated that he thought he did, as he called the move cheap heat. Flair stated that, during his heyday, he cut himself so deep that he would get blood on the fans when he swung his hair to get real heat. Flair emphasized that he was against throwing anything at a kid.

“Yeah. It’s cheap heat. You want to do something to get heat and get the people excited, that won’t hurt anybody, you cut yourself so deep that when you swing your hair, you throw blood all over them. That’s what I did all the time when I had long hair. Then they’d feel like they’re part of the action. They’re going, ‘Shit, this ain’t paint. This is blood’ [laughs]. I’m totally against throwing anything at a kid. You never know, if it had ice in it and that. The liability there? I’m sure Tony did a a cartwheel at Gorilla [position]," Flair said.

Co-host Conrad Thompson shared his thoughts by noting that he didn't like MJF personally, and he took issue with the AEW World Champion's behavior. Flair then noted that throwing a drink at a fan like that wouldn't fly in WWE.

"That shit wouldn’t fly at WWE. I got news for you. For something like that, if he did that that wouldn’t work in WWE for a minute," Flair said.

MJF and Tony Khan addressed the incident at the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum. Check out their comments here.

Scorpio Sky stated that celebrating a kid being disrespected at a show is "the smallest dick energy imaginable." More information is available here.
