Ric Flair Thinks Dixie Carter Started TNA Sale Rumors

Ric Flair thinks Dixie Carter spread rumors of WWE wanting to buy TNA.

The 16 time world champion said on Episode 13 of The Ric Flair Show that Carter was involved with starting and continuing rumors of WWE bidding on TNA. Carter may have spread those rumors to drive up the asking price of TNA, Flair said. The Nature Boy also said that while WWE could make use of TNA’s tape library, he doesn’t see WWE purchasing the whole company.

“I think that that’s a rumor that Dixie Carter put out to try and raise the ante,” Flair said. “Yep. I don’t see them doing that and I’m sure they’d like to have the library, but, I mean, there isn’t a lot to buy. And I’m not saying there’s not talent there. NXT, they’ve got a ton of kids in NXT right now that are all chomping at the bit to come up, so anybody that they acquire from TNA would probably just go over to NXT for a while and it’s just a lot of people.”

In terms of talent moving from TNA to WWE, Flair would like to see “Broken” Matt Hardy and Brother Nero (Jeff Hardy) return to WWE, where they spent much of their careers. Flair believes The Hardys could bring a lot to WWE television. He says he “keeps hearing a rumor” that they’re heading back to WWE, and that the two of them have been “looking like a million bucks” lately. The Hardys are currently TNA World Tag Team Champions, after beating Abyss and Crazzy Steve at Bound for Glory on October 2.
