Rich Swann: I Have Unfinished Business With Kenny Omega, Let's Run It Back

Rich Swann says he has unfinished business with Kenny Omega.

Swann won the IMPACT World Championship at Bound For Glory 2020 by defeating Eric Young. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega started showing up in IMPACT at the end of 2020, leading to a Winner Takes All Match at IMPACT Rebellion 2021, where Omega won IMPACT's world title. He held the gold until Christian Cage dethroned him on the August 13 episode of AEW Rampage.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Swann reflected on his brief feud with Omega and emphasized that there's unfinished business between them. He pointed out that he never got a rematch for the title after Omega beat him. Swann then stated that he wants to run it back, and he told Omega not to be scared.

“There's a lot of unfinished business. We never got a rematch, you know what I’m saying? Man, I know that Forbidden Door is still open, your boy Cass just had a world title shot at IMPACT against Josh [Alexander]. You know what I mean? He's a part of AEW. Hey Kenny, this is a message to you. Don't be scared, I know you beat me. But hey, don’t be scared. Let's run it back," Swann said.

Swann also discussed what winning the world title meant to him. He noted that it helped him feel like he proved his doubters wrong, and he felt like his world title run put him at another level. Swann also noted that he was elated when he had the opportunity to face Omega, one of the most renowned competitors in the industry, in their remarkable world title match.

“So personally, man, it just, it made me feel like all the doubters and the naysayers and the people that said 'hey, you're not gonna make it in this business as anything, because you're 5 foot 6, you're 175 pounds.' 'Oh, you'll never be…' I was able to show that gold and put it in their face. Professionally, you know, it definitely put me at another level. I was able to wrestle one of the most revered wrestlers in our industry today, Kenny Omega, in a high profile main event match, you know what I'm saying. Two companies came together, AEW and IMPACT Wrestling, one pay-per-view, one ring, two world titles. I would have never gotten an opportunity wrestling in other places, and I was just, you know, elated," Swann said.

In the same interview, Swann announced that he re-signed with IMPACT Wrestling. More information is available here.
