In a new workout video, Boogs commented, "I know people are like, 'You're not in WWE anymore, let's talk about it.' I can't, guys. I'm technically still under contract for three months. My birthday is December 21 and as a birthday present, I'm free from my contract, basically. My birthday, December 21, that's when I'm free from my contract. Until then, I'm still under contract."

Boogs has commented on his WWE release in YouTube comments, saying "I can say with 100% certainty, the removal of Vince killed my career." You can find more of his comments by clicking here.

Boogs was teamed with Shinsuke Nakamura before suffering a torn quadriceps and patellar tendon at WrestleMania 38. He returned to television in January 2023, but was rarely used.
