Ricky Saints Addresses Oba Femi’s Comments About Him Carrying Cody Rhodes’ Bags On WWE Main Roster

Saints explains what he finds odd about the comments.

On multiple occasions, Ricky Saints has spoken about his friendship with current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and some of the blowback he’s received from their friendship.

That blowback came about when Saints was shown on security footage with Rhodes at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event when he was still under contract to AEW. There was also blowback when Saints was filmed cheering Rhodes on from a suite at WrestleMania 40.

Saints is gearing up for an NXT Championship match at No Mercy, and there was a Grayson Waller Effect segment featuring him and the champion Oba Femi. During the segment, Femi made a comment about Saints looking ahead to the WWE main roster so he can carry Cody Rhodes’ bags.

While on The Masked Man Show, Saints addressed those comments and if he gets offended when people directly link his success to Rhodes.

“When that was said, I really so badly wanted to retort with, ‘Well, yeah, don’t you want to have more? Are you just okay here?’ Isn’t that a weird thing to bring up to someone? I don’t like you because you have aspirations… What are we talking about here? That’s so ridiculous. There are times where — I’m not saying that it bothers me. I do find it funny, because I’ve gotten everything that I wanted on my own, and I also find it so odd in wrestling that people will try to weaponize a friendship. It is the most insane thing that I’ve ever come across, where you talk about how much this person means to you in your life and then that’s immediately turned around and it’s like, ‘Oh, well, you know, here he is…’ Like, shut up. Go outside, have some friends. The thing I try to twist in my head is that when people — if that’s the only thing, if that’s the only thing you can bring up against me, if that’s the only slight that you have against me, that’s not bad. That’s not bad at all because it’s such low-hanging fruit. You have to scramble to find something to go against me with, and the only thing that you can come up with is, I don’t like your friendship with someone. What!? What are we talking about? It’s so bizarre to me. But hey, people who say those things are always gonna — they’re always going to have some type of perspective on it, and that’s fine. I’ma still be who I am, that’s for sure.”

Saints and Femi went face-to-face to close the 9/23 NXT on The CW. They both had a hand on the NXT Championship as there was a brawl between NXT and TNA wrestlers.
