Ricky Starks took advantage of an opportunity.
Cody promised he would defend the AEW TNT Title every week and he would be open to facing all challengers. On Wednesday's Dynamite, former NWA Television Champion Ricky Starks answered the open challenge and squared off against Cody.
Despite his best efforts, Starks could not overcome Cody, falling victim to the Cross Rhodes. After the bout, Cody showed mutual respect, shaking hands with Starks.

Starks and NWA mutually agreed to part ways in May. After Dynamite, Tony Khan confirmed Starks has officially signed with AEW.
