Ricky Starks says he and MJF have clashed over their sense of style, and he's always the winner.
In an interview with Alicia Atout, Starks talked about fashion, and he recalled how MJF questioned him about his tight pants when he first came to AEW. Starks then noted that he and MJF have competed over which one of them had the better outfit on a given week.
“Max is probably gonna be mad at me, but I’m good friends with Max, and I remember when I first started at AEW, he would come up to me and be like, ‘What are you wearing? Why are your pants so tight?’ I said, ‘Max, are you kidding me dude? You’re wearing Ferragamo with your non-pressed dress pants and the off-beaten color. He was like, ‘Okay, okay. I was just asking.’ I love him because his style and my style are so funny. There was a point where me and him were having a battle, like, ‘Hey, this week, I wore my grandfather’s suit, so I think I win.’ I said, ‘Alright, I’ll give you that,'" Starks said.
When asked to name which one of them was winning, Starks pointed to himself. He stated that MJF has worn sweatpants and a tank top to a classy event. Starks then claimed that he is the winner, both in and out of the ring.
“Well honestly, it’s gonna be me, and I’ll tell you why. Because I’ve seen this dude wear sweatpants and pump-up sneakers to a nice, classy event, and a tank top. He loves tank tops. So as far as I’m concerned, I am the winner, always, in and out of the ring. Right now, this is nothing. This is my workout outfit. I still look good," Starks said.
MJF and Starks feuded on AEW TV in December 2022, and MJF beat the fan-favorite to retain the AEW World Championship on the "Winter is Coming" edition of AEW Dynamite on December 14.
Starks has been feuding with CM Punk, who claims that he is the real world champion, in recent weeks. They will clash in a singles match on the August 5 episode of AEW Collision. More information is available here.
