Ridge Holland Says It Would Take ‘Seismic Effort’ For Wrestlers To Unionize, But Doesn’t Think It’ll Happen

Holland does not see a wrestlers’ union coming to fruition.
Luke Menzies a.k.a. Ridge Holland was rebounding from surgery for a Lisfranc injury when WWE informed him that they would not be renewing his contract. Holland took to social media and shared that with medical expenses, recovery rehab, and family expenses with his significant other and three children, he might not be able to pay his mortgage.
Fightful Select then reported that WWE terminated Menzies’ contract early after seeing the message he posted. The fallout from that saw Menzies doing some media, and he joined TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast.
He was asked about the idea of wrestlers unionizing. Menzies said that would take a seismic effort, but he does not think that’ll happen.
“At the minute, it’s gonna take a big seismic effort to get that because it’s a tale as old as time, right? It needs the big hitters to come on board and unfortunately, it might take them to sacrifice something that they’re getting so I don’t think that’ll ever happen. I just don’t think it will because wrestling’s cutthroat, right? It’s kill or be killed and I just don’t think that it fits the business mold or business model from an individual standpoint, and from a business standpoint for the company so, would it be nice? Yeah. Do I think it’ll happen? Nah.”
Menzies took to his YouTube channel to address the tweet he sent out that led to his contract being terminated. To read his remarks about the ordeal, head over to this link.
