A Ring Of Honor Pure Champion Has Been Crowned For The First Time In 14 Years

“The Foundation” has been crowned Pure Champion.

On the most recent episode of Ring of Honor television, Jonathan Gresham defeated “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams to become the first man to hold the newly reinstated Ring of Honor Pure Championship. Gresham won using the Octopus Stretch.

This tournament also featured such names as Josh Woods, Matt Sydal, Dalton Castle, Fred Yehi, PJ Black, and Jonathan Gresham's tag team partner, Jay Lethal. Lethal would celebrate in the ring with Gresham after he was given the championship.

Jonathan Gresham is only the eighth person to ever hold this championship, which has been on hiatus since 2006 when it was unified in a match between Daniel Bryan and Nigel McGuinness. AJ Styles was the first champion back in 2004. The title has also been held by such names as Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan.

The most recent episode of Ring of Honor began airing in syndication over Halloween weekend and will be available on FITE for the public on Monday, November 2, 2020.
