Conway spent time in Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2000 when the company served as the developmental territory for WWE. He wrestled WWE dark matches for the better part of three years before finding a steady role as part of La Résistance in the summer of 2003. During his time in WWE, Conway was a three-time World Tag Team Champion with partner Sylvain Grenier.

He was released from the company in May 2007.

Following his release, Conway went back to OVW (no longer under the WWE banner), before wrestling for the NWA and NJPW. Conway won the NWA World Heavyweight Title on two separate occasions, first in March 2013 and then again in June 2014.

WWE typically brings in a rotating cast of guest trainers into the Performance Center. This year alone they've brought in Shane Helms, Lance Storm, and Luke Hawx as guest trainers.
