Tony Maglio of The Wrap reported on Wednesday morning that WWE has signed Gronkowski and he will debut on the Mar. 20 episode of WWE SmackDown. Gronkowski is also set to be part of WrestleMania 36. It is unclear what role Gronkowski will occupy, but Maglio reports that Gronkowski will be in attendance to build a match after WrestleMania and won't have a match at WrestleMania.

The former New England Patriots tight end made an appearance at WrestleMania 33, helping Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Since then, Gronkowski has been very outspoken about his desire to link up with WWE again in some capacity.

He said last August that he wouldn't want to wrestle full-time, but would like to do "one crazy match." More recently, Triple H was a guest at Gronkowski's Super Bowl party.

Fightful will update the report when WWE confirms Gronkowski's signing.
