The WWE 24/7 Champion might be headed back to football.
Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL in March 2019 and has since transitioned into a role in WWE. Gronkowski reportedly signed a contract with WWE in March 2020, leading to him hosting WrestleMania 36, where he won the 24/7 Title from his friend Mojo Rawley.
Speaking to Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Gronkowski was asked about a potential return to football now that Tom Brady is in Tampa Bay.
"The day that I retired, within 24 hours, there were already rumors I was coming out of retirement. I'm feeling good right now. I'm happy where I'm at. You just never know. I'm not totally done, but I gotta get that feeling back."
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Gronkowski has told the New England Patriots that he's ready to return to football, but he wants to play with Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The two teams would have to work out a trade for that to happen as Gronkowski has one-year, $10 million left on his deal with the Patriots.
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Gronkowski has already taken his physical for Tampa Bay.
Adam Schefter of ESPN finally reports that the trade is official, Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick are headed to Tampa Bay in exchange for a fourth-round pick to New England.
It is unknown how this would affect his WWE status.
