Variety reported today that The Rock will receive a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on December 13.  He will be inducted due in part for his contributions to the film industry. The producer for the Walk of Fame ceremonies, Ana Martinez, says that his induction goes beyond just being inducted for that work, however.

"Not only does Dwayne have a great personality and talent, but he also does a great amount of philanthropic work which is part of the criteria for earning an immortal spot on the Walk of Fame" she said. "We envision scores of photos being taken at his star by his fans."

The Rock left WWE full time in 2003 to focus on his film career, which exploded with the release of The Scorpion King, his first feature film. He has since then starred in a number of popular movies, but his stock has increased even more with the Fast and Furious franchise scoring huge returns.

He is next set to star in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which hits theaters on December 20. He will also be a part of the upcoming movie based on the old video game Rampage which will be in theaters next year.
