The Rock Says He Called Nick Khan In January To Say WWE Should Do The Cody Rhodes And Roman Reigns Story

The Rock says he talked with Nick Khan in January about being a heel.

At WWE Raw Day One, The Rock laid out Jinder Mahal and then asked if he should hit at the "Head of the Table," a reference to Roman Reigns. Despite winning the Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes seemingly stepped aside for The Rock on the February 2 episode of WWE SmackDown. Rhodes said that he was going to take everything from Roman, but not at WrestleMania, before introducing The Rock.

At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff, Roman chose to face The Rock at WrestleMania, but Rhodes interjected, saying the decision was his as the Royal Rumble winner, and he chose to face Roman.

WWE went with Rhodes vs. Reigns as the main event WrestleMania 40 night two, but Rock stayed on WWE programming, aligning with Reigns and becoming The Final Boss.

"Back in January, I called Nick Khan, my friend, and I said, 'I have an idea, how about this. Why don't we take care of the people, give them this story of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.' Nick said, 'Great.' I said, 'However, a little bit of a twist.' 'What's that.' 'What if I became the greatest bad guy of all time.' That was the intent and intention," said Rock while speaking to Will Cain of FoxNews.

Elsewhere during the interview, Rock confirmed the original plan was to return as a babyface. You can find his full comments by clicking here.

Rock will team with Reigns at night one of WrestleMania 40 to face Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes.
