The Rock is making a return. Not to WWE, but to A24.
On Wednesday, Deadline issued an exclusive report on a new film for The Rock, revealing that he's set to co-star in a new psychological thriller titled ‘Breakthrough’. The movie will be produced and financed by A24.
Zeke Goodman will pen the script for the film, which is currently without a director. Casting is currently underway for the lead role and other supporting roles.
Deadline also states that the film will follow an "alienated young man" who is influenced by a motivational guru.
Set in turn-of-the-millennium Southern California, the story follows an alienated young man who comes under the influence of a motivational guru, whose intoxicating charm masks his morally questionable methods of manipulation and his own concealed darkness. We’re told Johnson will play the supporting role of the guru, with casting still underway for the lead role and other supporting parts.
This will be Rock's second film with the studio following Benny Safdie's 'The Smashing Machine', which is set to hit theaters in October. Check out the trailer for that film by clicking here.
