Rocky Romero, Christopher Daniels, Minoru Suzuki, And More Announced For NJPW New Japan Showdown

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced several matches for the New Japan Showdown event in Los Angeles on October 16.

Rocky Romero, Tom Lawlor, Minoru Suzuki, Juice Robinson, and other stars have been confirmed for the show, which will be held at The Vermont Hollywood.

The announced card for NJPW New Japan Showdown is below.

NJPW New Japan Showdown (10/16)

- Rocky Romero vs. Christopher Daniels

- Homicide vs. Tom Lawlor

- Blake Christian and Mascara Dorada vs. El Phantasmo and Chris Bey

- KEITA vs. Peter Avalon

- Minoru Suzuki vs.Fred Yehi

- Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Gabriel Kidd

- Jake Something vs. Juice Robinson

- Kenny King vs. Che Cabrera

From NJPW:

Gabriel Kidd will face Hiroshi Tanahashi in Hollywood. After time away, Kidd returned to NJPW rings back at Royal Quest II, and this generational talent will now be put to the test by the leader of his own generation in the Ace. Kidd’s matches this year with Eddie Kingston and Fred Rosser will earn many a vote in NJPW STRONG match of the year polls, and this Tanahashi collision is sure to be no different.

Minoru Suzuki takes on Fred Yehi in Hollywood. This first time singles match pits the Savageweight Yehi against the definition of savagery in Suzuki. As the King makes his United States return, can Yehi try to springboard himself right back into STRONG Openweight Championship contention?

After outings in Philadelphia and Las vegas, Homicide will return to STRONG to take on Tom Lawlor. The Notorious 187 presents a very different style of fighter than Lawlor is used to in the ring, and this stylistic clash will make for a gripping singles battle in Hollywood.

Juice Robinson does battle with Jake Something at Showdown. Something has been impressive in difficult draws with tough opponents in his STRONG career to date, yet strong performances against Eddie Kingston and Brody King both ended in defeat. Now he badly wants his first win in the cerulean, but so too does Juice Robisnon. Juice has been on a downturn ever since his G1 Climax 32 run stuttered. Can Rock Hard get on the rise once more?

They Bey-F-Fs of Chris Bey and El Phantasmo are back together in Hollywood as the BULLET CLUB duo face Blake Christian and Mascara Dorada. This match could well be the athletic highlight of the night, but who comes away with the win?

Rocky Romero will be taking on Christopher Daniels in singles action. After Daniels violently cut short his relationship with Yuya Uemura last time STRONG hit Hollywood, he left some questions that Rocky will seek answers to, the two facing off in the same ring for the first time since 2018, and one on one for the first time in 16 years.

Che Cabrera will be taking on Kenny King in Hollywood. ‘Latino Meat’ Cabrera has been making a mark in his early STRONG appearances both in Hollywood and Las Vegas, and now will be tested by the veteran King, who has made his own mark this year in IMPACT as part of Honor No More. Who comes out on top of this singles contest?

Also in the Vermont, KEITA will be facing Peter Avalon. ‘Pretty Pete’ was victorious in his debut on STRONG some weeks ago when he took on Adrian Quest; as competition heats up among wrestlers looking to break through into the top ranks on Staurday nights, neither will be backing down in this fight.
