Rocky Romero: I Was Definitely The One Who Brought Persephone To AEW… She’s Kind Of A Personal Project

Romero described Persephone as a ‘personal project.’

Persephone is one of the talents who is under a dual contract with CMLL and All Elite Wrestling. In January, it was announced that Persephone, Hechicero, and Máscara Dorada were under dual deals with the companies.

Rocky Romero, who works behind the scenes and serves as a liaison for AEW, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and CMLL, spoke about Persephone during his appearance on Off The Ropes.

Romero stated that he brought Persephone to AEW and said she’s a ‘personal project’ of his.

“I know her very well. I was definitely the one that found her and said, ‘Hey, why don’t you come and do Forbidden Door and come work with AEW.’ We also had her last — not this last Wrestle Kingdom but last year’s Wrestle Kingdom when we did the combination show with CMLL and AEW. She was on that as well. She was part of the four-way, the women’s four-way that opened the show so, she’s awesome. She’s awesome. She’s got the it factor and for the amount of years that she’s actually been doing it, I mean, she’s well, well advanced than most — guys and girls. So she’s phenomenal and I’m excited that she signed with AEW now as well so she’s got a dual contract with AEW and CMLL. She’s kind of a personal project and I just wanna see her do really, really well and keep growing and get to that next level.”

Persephone is featured on Ring of Honor. There was an ROH on HonorClub taping in Oceanside, California, on 2/21 that she was in action at.
