Roman Reigns took everything Sami Zayn had to offer, but at the end of the match, Reigns defeated Zayn to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber.

The bout featured multiple ref bumps, including an untimely one that cost Zayn as he had Reigns pinned. Jimmy Uso interfered, but Zayn was able to survive multiple superkicks and a splash. Jey Uso also got involved and Reigns asked Jey to hit Zayn with a chair, but Jey couldn't do it.

Sami accidentally speared Jey, leading to Reigns wailing on Zayn with a chair before finishing him off with a spear.

After the bout, Jimmy attacked Sami, leading to the return to Kevin Owens. Owens hit a stunner on Reigns and Paul Heyman, and powerbombed Jimmy through the table. Sami closed the night with a helluva kick on Reigns as the crowd cheered.

As a results of this victory, Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.

Zayn turned on Reigns at WWE Royal Rumble, preventing Reigns from issuing further damage to his longtime friend Kevin Owens. Zayn struck Roman in the back with a chair, leading to Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa to attack Zayn. Jey Uso, who came around to accept Zayn after initially not trusting him, left the ring as the attack ensued.
