Roman Reigns Doesn't Think The Rock Initially Knew He Was Interested In A Role In 'Hobbs & Shaw'

"The Big Dog" discusses his experience on the 'Hobbs & Shaw' set.

Last October, Roman Reigns announced to the wrestling world that he was going to be stepping away from the ring to battle Leukemia for a second time in his life. During that period that he was recovering, the former Universal Champion joined the cast of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Starring alongside Reigns in the film is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Hobbs & Shaw is set to release in theaters on August 2nd of this year and to promote the film, Reigns did an interview with Aol.com. He shared with the publication that he doesn't believe The Rock knew he was interested in auditioning or being a part of the film.

“I had heard about the project and figured I’d just read for it, see how it goes,” Anoa’i said. “I don’t think Dwayne actually knew I was reading for it or interested in it at the beginning. Once my tape went out and they were happy with it, fairly serious [about me coming on], I think they told D.J. that I was in the hunt. It was pretty neat to go through the regular process and then see what happens once someone like Dwayne gets his fingerprints on something.”

Reigns also spoke about being the face of WWE and there are a lot of opportunities that come with that position. He added that it has been a position that he has been able to handle thus far and with the support of his family, he sees everything clearly.

“There’s always something that intrigues me in both the process of creating it and the process of bringing it to life,” Anoa’i said. “There’s a lot of responsibility of being a lead man, the top guy in WWE, there are a lot of opportunities that come with it. It’s something I’ve been able to handle thus far, so it’s just something I need to look at through the scope of my family. Just getting the opportunity to be a part of Hobbs and Shaw, whether there’s sequels, 15 more to come, you know how the ‘Fast’ franchise does it, was cool enough.”

Last week on WWE RAW, Reigns was saved from a beat down by The Undertaker and at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Reigns and Undertaker will team up to take on Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre.
