Roman Reigns Successfully Defends Universal Title Inside Hell In A Cell On 6/18 WWE SmackDown

The Tribal Chief reigns supreme.

Back on June 4th, Roman Reigns interfered in the Uso's Tag Title match against Rey and Dominik Mysterio, fearing his cousins would lose and embarrass the family. The Head of the Table proceeded to lay a vicious beatdown on both Mysterios, especially Dominik.

The next week, Rey challenged Roman to a match inside Hell In A Cell to avenge what Reigns did to his son. Roman accepted after Rey and Dominik tried to sneak attack him, one which didn't go according to plan and saw Dominik powerbombed to the outside of the ring.

Originally scheduled for this Sunday's Hell In A Cell, the match was moved to SmackDown as Rey supposedly couldn't wait until Father's Day to exact his revenge. This would mark Rey's first Hell In A Cell match and the first one ever broadcast live and for free on SmackDown.

Rey controlled the early part of the match, blinding Roman with a fire extinguisher, hitting him with a toolbox, utilizing a steel chair, and landing a frog splash. All of that, however, wasn't enough to keep Roman down. The Universal Champion came back with a vengeance, eventually tapping Mysterio out with a modified guillotine choke. After the bell, he pulled Rey up, choked him out again and then wished him a Happy Father's day.
