Ron Simmons talks about his ‘DAMN!’ catchphrase.
In the early 2000s, Ron would begin to say his new catchphrase, DAMN. Until 2006 however, it was not as common as it was in the late 2000s. Simmons would walk in on several types of situations, all deserving of his signature catchphrase.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture in a new interview, Ron Simmons was asked about his ‘Damn!’ catchphrase, noting that he wishes it had taken off 35 years ago so he would never have climbed to the top rope, never taken power slams or even pile drivers.
“I only wish it had taken off like 35 years ago because I never would have climbed to the top rope. I never would have taken power slams. I never would have taken pile drivers. I would have just walked out there and simply said, ‘damn!”
Recently, Simmons’ APA tag team partner JBL spoke about an incident where he hit a Clothesline From Hell on Shane McMahon that was so stiff, Simmons thought they were about to be fired. You can read more about that here.
