Rusev Commenting On Being The #1 Contender For The WWE Title: "I've Worked Hard Enough And Done Everything I've Needed to Do"

Rusev is not going to let this opportunity slip past him.

"The Bulgarian Brute" Rusev has been with WWE for eight years and for four of those years he has been on the main roster. Although Rusev is a former two-time WWE United States Champion he has never had a one-on-one opportunity at the World Title in WWE. That all changed two weeks ago on SmackDown Live when Rusev won a gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender to AJ Styles' WWE Championship at this Sunday's 'Extreme Rules' PPV

Ahead of the bout, Rusev spoke with ESPN and minced no words when speaking about his opportunity at the World Title and after doing everything he has needed to do up until this point, his opportunity has finally come.

"Becoming heavyweight champion, and holding the top title is on my bucket list," Rusev said. "That spot is always getting tighter and tighter, but why not? A man can always dream." He continued, "I've been focused and I'm in the zone," Rusev said. "I've been training harder than any other day."

Rusev added that it feels great to finally have this moment and when it comes on July 15th he will not waste it.

"It's great," Rusev said. "Finally being able to climb up all the way to the top. I've worked hard enough and done everything I've needed to do. It just feels good that I have this opportunity, and I'm not going to waste it."
