Rusev was famously aligned with Aiden English as part of Rusev Day, but he could have had a legend as his partner at one point.
"Rey Mysterio is amazing. I loved working with him on the same team. It was absolutely my pleasure of having a tag team match with Rey Mysterio. After the match, we worked a live event, and he goes, 'Hey man, I really like working with you.' Maybe this is just Rey being Rey because he's such a nice guy. I'm honored to know Rey because he's such a nice guy and one of the greatest of all-time. He goes, 'We should work as a tag team. I have nothing going on.' I'm like [stunned], 'YES! PLEASE! I BEG YOU!' I think he went to a different story and they shot me to something else, so it never came to fruition, but even the idea, even if he was just being nice and saying it, I'm still taking the compliment," he said.
Rusev and Mysterio teamed at WWE Starrcade 2018 to defeat The Miz & Shinsuke Nakamura. They also competed together at a live event in December 2018, teaming with AJ Styles in a six-man tag team match.
Rusev continued, discussing other WWE legends who left him in awe.
"You can call me a mark or whatever, but I have so much respect for these people. Undertaker, I'm intimidated to this day by Taker and he hasn't done anything wrong to me. He's always been super nice, we worked together, and I'm still intimidated. Sometimes, when I see him, I just go the other way because I grew up watching these guys, they are my heroes. Triple H, same thing. When he was backstage, I would always keep my distance. These guys were so high for me, like unreachable Gods," he said.
Rusev went on to say that he would be stoned if he said to his friends growing up that one day he would be wrestling The Undertaker and teaming with Rey Mysterio.
