Rusev caught some heat on social media after he congratulated Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson for signing with IMPACT.
In response to The Good Brothers joining IMPACT, Rusev tweeted, "Maybe you can do chops or something @MachineGunKA! Congrats @The_BigLG"
Some fans thought Rusev was throwing shade at Karl Anderson, but that was not the case.
On his Twitch channel, Rusev explained the meaning behind his tweet.
"We went to Japan and it was a four-way tag match; me & Aiden [English], Good Brothers, Harper & Rowan, and the Usos. We did something at the beginning and all of a sudden me and [Karl Anderson] meet in the middle. We haven't talked about any of it. I know that he's over and big in Japan. They built the match around the Good Brothers because they deserved it. People were excited to see them. I'm in the ring with Anderson, I stare at him and I'm like, 'You wanna do some Japanese spots or something?' He goes, 'Sure, like what?' 'I don't know, maybe chops or something. I'll chop you first.' We do chops and I put him over because he's a good guy and we're in Japan. We joke about it and people think we're throwing shade. Japanese spots, you know how you watch Japanese (wrestling) and they just chop each other until they bleed and eventually someone bumps," Rusev joked.
The match in question took place at a live event in 2018. Harper & Rowan won the bout, successfully defending their SmackDown Tag Team Titles.
IMPACT wrestlers better watch out for the chops of Karl moving forward.
