SalivaDirect COVID-19 Testing Expected To Be Available To MLW

MLW is expected to utilize SalivaDirect COVID-19 testing when it becomes available to them in the coming weeks.

The test was developed Yale School of Public Health and reduces turnaround times for results. The test was partially funded by the NBA and has been used by the NBA during their bubble restart and are 95% accurate.

“This new development in diagnostic testing will provide us with lab results within a few hours,” said MLW’s chief medical physician Dr. Nelson Sweglar. “This particular test is going to help contain the spread and allow for rapid tracing and isolation in a more realistic manner. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We expect in a few months we will be able to receive results within around 30 minutes, perhaps without a lab being involved"

MLW CEO Court Bauer added, “We have been expecting this for a few months. This is going to dramatically change our ability to restart the league and assure the health and well-being of our athletes, staff and crew."

When asked about MLW restarting, Bauer said, "Stay tuned but we’re very close. Very."

MLW ceased running live events during the pandemic and Bauer has been adamant that they would not return to live events until it is safe for everyone involved.
