Sami Callihan vs. Kenny Omega For IMPACT World Title Made Official For IMPACT Slammiversary 2021

The main event for IMPACT Slammiversary is official.

On the June 17 episode of IMPACT Wrestling, Scott D'Amore announced that a representative from Anthem was coming to the show to deal with the fallout from Against All Odds. At that event, Kenny Omega defeated Moose - with the help of The Young Bucks - to retain the IMPACT World Title. After the bout, Sami Callihan appeared in Daily's Place and attacked Omega. Don Callis came to Kenny's aid and fired The Draw. An irate Scott D'Amore argued with Callis as Against All Odds went off the air.

Tonight, Callihan appeared at the venue despite his status and - with some persuasion - agreed to do things D'Amore's way and let the EVP fight for him. After he vanished, Don Callis came out and spoke disparagingly about wrestlers. Tommy Dreamer entered the fray and revealed himself to be the representative sent by Anthem. He proceeded to reinstate Callihan and fire Don Callis from the company.

Last month, Fightful Select, our premium service, reported that Callis was no longer an executive with IMPACT. That story can be seen here.

As a result, Callihan's place as the number one contender also remains which means he will face Kenny Omega for the IMPACT World Championship at Slammiversary on July 17, 2021. He earned the spot after Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson's interference earned him a disqualification victory over Moose.
