- Daniel Bryan kicked off SmackDown by hyping his Steel Cage match with Jey Uso. If Bryan wins, he gets another shot at Roman Reigns' Universal Championship at Fastlane.

Bryan talked about his love for wrestling and how he is more ambitious than he thought. Reigns argued that Bryan doesn't love wrestling, but rather needs it. He on the other hand could do whatever he wants but is here because everyone else relies on him.

Uso tried to attack Bryan but was thwarted and thrown out of the ring.

- After King Corbin refused to team up with Sami Zayn versus the Street Profits, the two split off and had singles matches. Corbin defeated Montez Ford, while Zayn lost to Angelo Dawkins via distraction roll-up.

In exclusive footage from Sami Zayn’s own documentary team, The Master Strategist is left in disbelief following the supposed rat that infiltrated his documentary team. The videographer that Sami attacked at ringside after his match was played by recent WWE signee Blake Christian.

- After two weeks of him and his father getting beat down by Otis and Chad Gable, Dominik Mysterio picked up a victory on Friday Night SmackDown over the leader of the Alpha Academy.

- After calling him a duplicitous snake, Carmella fired her sommelier Reginald.

- Buddy Murphy returned to WWE TV, offering his assistance to Seth Rollins in his ongoing feud with Cesaro. The offer, however, was rejected.

- Bianca Belair defeated Shayna Baszler on SmackDown. Reginald, who almost cost the EST of WWE the match, was slapped by Sasha Banks after the fact for continuing to interfere in her business.

- Roman Reigns shared some words of encouragement with Jey Uso before his Steel Cage match.

- Cesaro defeated Buddy Murphy with Seth Rollins sitting at ringside.

- Fired by Carmella and slapped by Sasha Banks, not all went wrong for Reginald on Friday Night. Although, one can't help but wonder if Nia has ulterior motives as she and Shayna Baszler defend their Tag Team Titles versus Banks and Belair at Fastlane.

- Apollo Crews is demanding an Intercontinental Championship rematch from Big E.

- Daniel Bryan got a jump start on the action, attacking Jey Uso backstage ahead of their Cage match.

- Bayley introduced a new "Sweet Tweets" segment to her Ding Dong Hello show.

- With Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman sitting at ringside, Daniel Bryan defeated Jey Uso, earning a Universal Championship opportunity at Fastlane.
