Sami Zayn Talking Survivor Series: Buddy Murphy vs. Mustafa Ali Was The Only Match Where I Felt Hunger

Sami Zayn shares his thoughts on the 2018 Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Former NXT Champion and current Monday Night RAW star Sami Zayn is out of action rehabbing after undergoing double shoulder surgery over the summer. Sami has been enjoying his time off and has tuned into some wrestling when he's had the chance. One of the pay-per-views that Sami tuned into was the 2018 WWE Survivor Series PPV which took place on November 18th inside the Staples Center. The night was filled with Team RAW versus Team SmackDown action, Enzo Amore attempting to hijack the show and Daniel Bryan going one-on-one with Brock Lesnar but there was one match in particular that Sami enjoyed above the rest and that was the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match between Mustafa Ali and the champion Buddy Murphy.

Six-Man Tag, Mixed Tag, X-Division Title Bout, More Announced For TNA Under Siege

Murphy emerged victorious from the bout and is still reigning as Cruiserweight Champion. Ali has gotten the call-up to the main roster and is now a permanent member of SmackDown Live. After the Survivor Series pay-per-view, Sami Zayn sat down with Chris Jericho and towards the end of their conversation Sami explained why he enjoyed Mustafa and Buddy's match over the other matches on the card.

“Oh man, I loved the Cruiserweights match - Buddy Murphy and Mustafa Ali." Sami said during an episode of 'Talk Is Jericho'"Man they work very quietly under the radar. They've been working their ass off to try and build 205 Live and they’re doing great - week in and week out. Just working so hard and it almost reminds me of when we were building NXT. The raw passion and that feeling - ‘We can do that. We can create something’. There was a really… it's so intangible, it’s so hard to describe, but it was the only match on the card and I mean this to full respect to everybody on that card, but it was the only match where I felt hunger. There was hunger in their work, and that’s a very hard thing to describe. I can’t even describe it. You’ll [Jericho] understand it but I mean, 98% of fans won’t be able to identify that. They’ll just be able to go, ‘Oh that was good’, but I can feel their hunger. I can feel it and that was special. I was watching and I was like respect, respect to these guys." Sami shared. "They’re working with real heart, and that’s not to say no one else was - a lot of great matches, a lot of people… everyone works their ass off in WWE but there was just a different feeling of like, these guys have something to prove. There’s real hunger and real heart in this match.”
