Sammy Guevara Issues Another Apology, Says He's Grown A Lot In Four Years

On Monday a 2016 clip of Sammy Guevara surfaced where he said he wanted to "rape" Sasha Banks. Guevara said it as a "joke," but there was obviously nothing funny about it.

Guevara and Banks both addressed the comment publicly and privately with Guevara apologizing and Sasha saying they had an open conversation on the phone.

Guevara took to YouTube to issue another apology and update fans.

"There's gonna be no Vlog today and for a while. I'm gonna take a hiatus from social media in general. I want to apologize to anybody I let down, to Sasha, to anybody I hurt with my words. It sucks because 2016 me, is not me today. 2020 me would never say those kind of hurtful things that I said in 2016. I used to think it was funny to do some kind of shock humor to pop the room, but it's not funny. A lot has happened in four years of my life, a lot of people think four years isn't a lot of time, but if you look at what has happened to me, from wrestling in the middle of nowhere in Texas to wrestling all around the world, in different countries, and television, so much has happened in four years. One of the things that's happened is me growing as a person. I understand now that the words I say can impact people more than I'll ever understand. They can hurt people more than I'll ever realize. That's why you won't catch me saying these hurtful things now in 2020. 2016 was a different me. That's not an excuse, I still said those things and I'll pay for those things, but that's not me. In these four years, I've grown as a person and have become better. Whenever I do come back, I will be better. I'm going to do sensitivity training and be a better version of myself. Sorry for anybody I let down. To Sasha, to anybody I hurt," he said.

AEW suspended Guevara without pay and he will be undergoing sensitivity training. His salary will be donated to the Women's Center of Jacksonville. From that point, AEW will re-evaluate his position in the company.
