Sammy Guevara Says It Was His Idea For Stadium Stampede To Go From Cinematic To Live

AEW held the second-ever Stadium Stampede match this past Sunday at Double or Nothing.

With live crowds returning to events, the 2021 version of Stadium Stampede took on a different feel as the majority of the match was taped and aired for the fans at Daily's Place before the action spilled into the outdoor venue and in front of the live audience.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Sammy Guevara revealed that it was his idea for the bout to go from cinematic to live.

"It was my idea to have the match go from cinematic to live crowd and they went with it. I was surprised. Tony [Khan] and Chris [Jericho] came up to me and were like, 'that's a really good idea.' I figured other guys came up to him and told him that idea but no one else did so they gave me credit for it," said Sammy.

The first Stadium Stampede, which took place in 2020 and featured The Inner Circle vs. The Elite, was fully taped as crowds were not present for the event.

Sammy said he thought the match was great blending serious action with comedy.

Ultimately, Guevara and the Inner Circle stood tall over The Pinnacle with Sammy pinning Spears in the middle of the ring.
