Samoa Joe Thought His Career Was Over After Concussion In 2020

In February 2020, Samoa Joe suffered a concussion while filming a commercial.
Joe would be moved into a commentary position, where he remained until August 2021.
Speaking to Craig Altman of Grace Family Church, Joe reflected on the concussion and believing his career was over.
“Within the span of two months, I had received a concussion and my career was essentially over. I was sent to the commentary desk, which was awesome, a good time. In that time, I was let go and fired. I was hired back, miraculously, thankfully, and I moved into a more corporate position, but then the corporate structure changed, and two months later I found myself fired again,” he said.
Samoa Joe was released again by WWE in January 2022, but landed “Twisted Metal” and signed with AEW.
