Samu Anoa'i acknowledges The Tribal Chief and explains his absence from WWE Raw XXX.
Samu of The Headshrinkers was scheduled to be at WWE Raw XXX along with Rikishi and The Wild Samoans, Afa & Sika.
Originally scheduled to be an acknowledgment ceremony for Roman Reigns, The Bloodline ended up taking part in the trial of Sami Zayn instead. In a new interview on the Two-Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Samu explains that illnesses and other circumstances kept members of the family away from the celebration.
"It was supposed to be Rikishi, myself, my dad, and my uncle to name a few. My dad couldn’t fly at the time and Rikishi had pneumonia at the time so, everything just got put on the back burner," said Samu.
Samu was sure to acknowledge The Tribal Chief, however, and say that he is glad Roman Reigns is doing so well and is in a position where he has "a lot of creative control."
"Of course [Roman is 'The Head of The Table.']. Listen, you brought these people [fans] to be able to pay attention, to bring it back. I mean, not that it has gotten boring or anything, just sometimes wrestling does that," said Samu. "It just flatlines for a while and then it makes a comeback all the time.
"Wrestling just does that," Samu continued. "It'll go dead and something else will pop up. Some new thing that will last five minutes and go away. Nothing's really changed on the landscape or the format. So it's, it's pretty obvious you know, the ratings and everything like that, that Joe's doing, it's phenomenal, great business. I'm glad he has a lot of creative control."
Ultimately, the trial of Sami Zayn led to Zayn turning on Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble 2023 event. Now, Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns will fight at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
