Santino Marella reflects on the difference between his WWE and TNA characters.

Since making his debut on TNA programming, Santino Marella has found himself in a new role as an authority figure in TNA, coming off of his time in WWE as primarily a comedy act. In TNA, Santino’s role is more serious due to the authority he has, and for the man behind the character, he enjoys having ‘extra dimensions’.

While speaking to Rewind, Recap, Relive in a new interview, Santino explained that he ‘kinda painted himself in the corner’ in WWE.

“Well, In WWE, I kind of painted myself in the corner sometimes because Santino was so funny, but he was kind of not that smart. You know what I mean? So here I get to still be Santino, but I get to also be a businessman. I also get to be someone who’s a disciplinary figure, someone that can make stipulations and think on the fly. So it’s nice to have those extra elements and dimensions.”

Elsewhere in the same interview, Santino commented on TNA’s new TV deal with AMC. You can read more about that here.
