Santos Escobar Has Yet To Meet Vince McMahon, Calls That His Ultimate Goal In WWE

Santos Escobar hasn't met Vince McMahon during his time in WWE.

Santos Escobar is the current NXT Cruiserweight Champion. He captured this championship by winning a tournament to crown a new champion following the global pandemic and not allowing Jordan Devlin, the NXT Cruiserweight Champion in the United Kingdom, to travel back and forth.

Despite holding the championship for several months and being a WWE employee prior to the pandemic, Santos Escobar says he has not met Vince McMahon yet. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and William Regal typically run NXT, and the fact that Santos Escobar has not been on the main roster may very well be why he has yet to meet the WWE Chairman.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Escobar stated that meeting Vince is his ultimate goal in WWE.

“I will give you a peculiar answer. There is one thing I haven’t been able to do, and that is meet Vince McMahon. I’m committed to this industry, and that is a lifetime commitment. I was born and raised to do this. I think Vince McMahon is a genius, and I want to meet him. That, to me, is an immediate goal. He will either like me or hate me, but I will discuss my background with him and what I bring to the table. I need to discuss that with Vince McMahon, and that is one of my most immediate goals.”

As for his goals inside of the squared circle, Escobar says even though he is happy as NXT Cruiserweight Champion, he eventually wants to become NXT Champion by defeating Finn Balor.

“When I was first presented this opportunity to shine in the cruiserweight division, my goal became to move this title from the pre-show to the main show. I need to show this title in a new light and defend it at TakeOvers.

“My end game is to become NXT Champion. Finn Bálor is the champion, and we would present an amazing battle for that title.”

Escobar is scheduled to defend his championship against Curt Stallion tonight on NXT. Fightful will have live coverage beginning at 8 p.m. eastern.
