Santos Escobar: The Last Leg Of My Career Will Be The Best One

Santos Escobar is currently a free agent after he was released by WWE in April.
Escobar was released despite being sidelined with an injury and undergoing a second surgery. He has not wrestled since March 14.
Speaking on TMZ Inside The Ring, Escobar was asked what his future in wrestling looks like.
“After a very long time of taking things in a rush. ‘I just left this place, I have to go to this place.’ This time is different. This time, I’m taking my time. I will take bookings for limited dates on the independent circuit. My team is getting ready for whatever is next. I can’t really say what my in-ring future looks like because I don’t know. If there is anything I’ve learned in the past year and a half is that I can’t say what is coming. It doesn’t matter what the vibe is, I don’t know what is coming. What I’m 100% sure of is I will do it with my heart and give you everything. You will get the best version of myself.
“I do have more acting projects coming up. [Wrestling] is not going to lose me to that, and acting is not going to lose me to wrestling. They are both professions that complement each other. They are professions that serve the same purpose: to entertain, lift people, and give them the opportunity to relieve themselves from their everyday lives. That is something I’ve always aspired to. The last three or four years have shown me what my calling is. I’m ready to do it. Wherever you see me next, just know my time starts now. The last leg of my career will be the best one. We live in the moment, and right now I feel better than ever.”
Escobar will now go by Romeo Malverde when he returns to wrestling.
Elsewhere during the interview, Escobar commented on his WWE release. You can find his full comments here.
