Saraya Reflects On Neck Injury That Almost Ended Her Wrestling Career

Saraya reflects on her career-ending neck injury.
On December 27, 2017, Saraya (then known as Paige) worked a six-woman tag team match at a house show in Uniondale, New York, where she got injured.
This happened when Mercedes Mone (then known as Sasha Banks) kicked her in the back, and it impacted Saraya’s neck and led to temporary paralysis. Saraya announced her retirement from wrestling the following year.
She would go on to make another comeback in 2022 with AEW and have a three-year run with the company before leaving earlier this year. Saraya recently made an indie appearance for Insane Wrestling Revolution.
On social media, she reflected on that neck injury from 2017 that almost ended her wrestling career forever. The former AEW Women’s World Champion said she’s grateful for her health, friends, and family.
“8 years yesterday from when I thought my career was over during a Uniondale house show. What a ride it’s been since. Grateful for my health, family, friends and fans. You truly keep me going! My noodle neck is as strong as ever haha
Can’t wait for what 2026 has in store”
After her IWR appearance, Saraya teased making more such appearances in the future. Fans can read more about it here.
